Imagine for a moment that there is a big black demon within you, one that controls your mood, what you say, how you think, and for a long, long time this demon causes you to hurt those around you. For me, the highlight of Mattel's SDCC panel concerning the DC Multiverse figures came when it was revealed that the DC Signature Series figure line (Of which the 1990s Flash and Kilmer Batman are a part of) is not strictly relegated to the older movies, but can touch upon more recent movies as well; including those from the current DC movie series that have already gotten Multiverse waves. Figures from recent movies that weren't included in the Multiverse line suddenly became a new possibility and are not completely passed upon by the line, and my mind immediately started to work on which characters I would want figures for. So going forward, this'll be my top 5 most wanted DC Multiverse Signautre Series figures, which probably some SPOILERS about the movies they come from. 5. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl was the fourth generation of pocket monsters to come to gamer's screens, and it was the reason that I bought a Nintendo DS as a child. It introduced a whole grouping of new creatures, many of which were new evolutionary tiers of older Pokemon. Being Pokemon, there is no doubt whatsoever that this generation will be tapped upon soon for new buildable sets; in fact, Munchlax has long been released and Weavile was shown at the recent SDCC. Racism and race are the prime points set up in New York Times bestseller, Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Throughout the book’s pages he talks about his own upbringing and the acts of racism he witnessed which fortified his view on life and the way that he looks at everyone around him; the book is also told through first person narration as a message to his son. The final book of Ernest Hemingway’s writing career was the short novel The Old Man and The Sea . In it he tells the painfully simple story of an elderly man, Santiago, who is pulled out to sea while fighting to catch a huge marlin. It proved to his critics that he was still capable of writing a fully successful story after the critical letdown of his previous novels; however, this novel proved different from those that came before it. The realistic presentation of facts typical of Hemingway’s other works is nearly thrown out the window in this novel as things happen that should not be physically or humanly possible. The central character himself is a stark contrast to many of Hemingway’s other heroes of earlier novels, right down to the ending that Santiago eventually settles into by the conclusion of the novel. In a recent inquiry to Diamond Select Toys about wave 4 of their Pacific Rim line, I was told they they would be waiting to see how wave 3 did at retail first, then added that preorders are more important now than ever with Toysrus going under. With this response, it seems to me that the fate of the Pacific Rim line rests solely in the performance sales of wave 3, and the amount of preorders it recieves. I believe this also holds true for their first Kaiju releasing in September, Hakuja, and the fate of the Kaiju figures.
