Avengers: Infinity War movie spoiler review

Wow! What a ride that was, after 10 years of Marvel movies the Avengers have reached the climax of their stories and the mad titan Thanos has arrived to collect the infinity stones and wipe out half the galaxy. It is an ambitious movie, from an ambitious line of films, and it does not disappoint in being the gargantuan film that it poised itself to be. The movie has some issues, but many good points to match, and without further ado lets look into Avengers' newest movie. (Spoiler warning: THERE ARE SPOILERS AHEAD ) It was a long time coming but the Marvel universe has reached its Thanos storyline and the beginning of the end for the first three phases of films, and the beginning of the end was as massive and spectacular as it was made out to be. From the start we are introduced to Thanos, who is easily one of the most complex characters in the movie and the best villain Marvel has given us, as he lays waste to the Asgardian refugee ship in his search for the tesseract. It is

The Flash S04 EP19 Review

This week's Flash episode, titled "Fury Rogue", sees the return of several older characters and propels the plot forward with some major ramifications being revealed from last week, and several revelations popping up to further the story going into the next few episodes. Some stuff worked better than others, so lets dive in and talk about it all. The primary plot of the episode revolved around Barry refusing to accept Ralph's death, and it was done wonderfully as we saw him trying to tell himself that he had seen so much death that he knew how to deal with it at this point (which was also a chance for the show to remind us just how many people have died in just under four seasons). We saw his refusal to grief Ralph result in him losing his cool in tense situations, and at the recommendation of Citizen Cold Barry finally broke down to grief Ralph's death, blaming himself, crying on Joe's shoulder, and giving us one of the more heartwarming emotional performan

Ranking the DCEU villains

Image
The Dc comics shared movie universe finally had its Justice League movie release this summer to not so great reviews, and at this bench mark in the DCEU's movie history I thought it would be fitting to take a look back and rank the major villains that have appeared in each of the film's up to and including Justice League. These villains were the first to plague the DC universe within these first few movies, and its time to take a look into which were the best of the worst. And a reminder before we go in that this purely my opinion, and there are 100% going to be differing opinions to what I say and that is okay, different people have different preferences and reasons for why they like and dislike a villain, and I am not saying these are definitively the ranking of the DCEU villains, just my personal opinion on how I would rank them. Now without further ado, lets dive in. Spoilers for the DCEU movies going forward. Note: (Minor villainous character such as Nam-Ek and KGBeast

The Flash S04 EP18 Review

Flash was back again this week with an episode that started out innocent enough but ended up with major ramifications for the remaining episodes of the season along with a heartbreaking end to a fan favorite character. Spoilers for the episode, entitled "Lose Yourself," going forward. The end stinger from the finale of last episode comes up here in the form of Henry's addiction to the thinking cap, an entertaining little subplot that lets Joe get solid moments of shine, as well as letting Harry wail out and destroy Cisco's model when he loses the cap. Harry couldn't stay away from it though and seemingly overcharged his brain with dark matter in the end of the episode, which we'll have to wait and see how that affects him going forward. There was also no answer given to Cisco's offer to be the new Breacher. This is just a stray observation, but why does Team Flash think that Fiddler's soundwaves were the only thing that can hurt Devoe? I'm pret

Black Lightning S01 EP13 Season Finale Review

Black Lightning ended its freshman season last night with an episode that managed to pull off a dramatic, action packed finale that manages to avoid narrative pitfalls of earlier episodes, for the most part. The conflict of the ASA came to a head along with the storylines concerning Tobias and Lala, and everything wrapped up cleanly heading into next season. The largest offense this season has done that I have to get out of the way before talking about anything else, is the complete and utter uselessness of the Lala plot line. Tobias explained the return of Lala in this episode, basically saying that he payed money to have someone revived (That seems really useful, like, really really useful.) and that it is somehow a side effect that the revived gets tattoos of people he killed? He even gives Lala a fancy villain name with "Tattooed Man," though I have to wonder why Tobias would kill Lala himself and then spend so much money bringing him back to life...especially when it w

Rampage movie review

Image
Rampage was the newest movie from Warner Brothers Pictures to come to the silver screen this weekend and it hits without the usual groan that video game movies typically give. I have always been a fan of giant monster movies, and while I knew the movie wouldn't be a very deep film, I was at least expecting it to be fun and entertaining, and that was exactly what I got. (Image Source) Story: The story is simple, being that genetic editing goes awry and from it three regular animals are morphed into three monstrous beasts that wreck buildings and fight the army. The movie did not need a complicated story, and what we got was perfect enough to give us what we wanted, and that was monster mayhem. The movie has its heartwarming moments, notably a short sequence in which we learn of George's backstory (the albino ape), though others aren't as well done (Davis' military background). Characters: The characters of the story are where it gets a fair bit more cheesy and

The Flash S04 EP17 Review

After a painful few weeks of waiting, The Flash has finally returned with the 17th episode of the season and the reveal of the second to last bust meta that Devoe has been hunting down. There were plenty of great moments in the episode, storylines that seemed to tee up future developments, and solid characters moments that helped the episode shine. The primary storyline centered around the metahuman "Null" who was portrayed as a petty thief with the ability to alter the gravity of an object. I wasn't too big of a fan of the actor's performance, but her actions were amusing to watch, especially with sending Barry into orbit. Her storyline is also where Jay and Silent Bob made their cameo appearance in the episode, and a funny one it was indeed with Jay's "I need this job!" being one of the lines that hit my funny bone during the episode. We also got further development of Ralph's character as Barry confronted him about why he is always so jokey and

Black Lightning S01 EP12 Review

It happened! Tobias Whale has finally returned to the show! Was it a great episode! How was the climax? Does it make things feel more urgent going into the final episode of the season after this episode? Well, lets discuss that! At this point in the season, this episode finally started to pul together all the loose ends that have been hanging, and the start of that was the return of Tobias Whale. Turns out he is working for the ASA, but the little seeds of hints that he will try and take it over were great to make him less of a lap dog henchmen. I'm glad that he also mentioned his sister, as not mentioning her would be strange, though I did think it was a little weird that Tobias didn't mention her to Black Lightning at the end of the episode and took all his frustration out on a random henchmen in the beginning. With Tobias' return we also got the return of Khalil, which had bits of emotional weight such as when he went to visit Jennifer but otherwise he felt strange;

Top 10 most wanted Star Wars The Black Series figures

Image
Hasbro's line of 6 inch Star Wars action figures is now several years deep into the line, with over a hundred figures produced, and no sign of slowing down soon with plenty of reveals from 2018's Toy Fair and multiple new movies on the way. Despite how far the toyline has reached into the movies, there are still a large amount of figures collectors are still vying for, and me myself have still been hoping for a lot of the same figures for years now. For this list, I will be going over the figures that I still want to see most from Star Wars the Black Series, some of whom are probably more likely than others, but all of whom I'm hoping to one day add to my collection. (Note: spoilers for the Star Wars movies ahead) Honorable mention: Amanaman Amanaman was an alien from Jabba's palace that I believe appeared in one shot of the film, and that was when I specifically looked him up online to see where he appeared in the film. I remember having an old toy magazine fr

Black Lightning S01 EP11 Review

Image
Black Lightning was back, and with an episode that felt strong and gave us a focused story from beginning to end. The incarceration of Jefferson Pierce made for a good hour of television, and there were plenty of highlights throughout to keep me entertained; though still a little peeved at some of the choices the show is still making despite only two episodes remaining in the season. (Spoilers ahead for the episode) (Image Source) I do want to preface this review though by saying that throughout the entire episode my television had some kind of metallic buzz that whirred whenever there was any kind of sound. It was wasn't on any of the other channels, and it continued through commercials, so the episode leaned towards ear grating for me lol. One issue that I have at this point is that the show doesn't seem to be building towards anything, it feels like nothing much has progressed beyond Jefferson finding out Tobias was back, and that the ASA existed and was collecting c

Ready Player One movie review (Non-spoiler)

Image
Ready Player One hit theaters this weekend and I rushed to go see it. From the very first trailer I was hooked on the movie, and I never watched anything beyond the first trailer before seeing the film so I was walking in essentially blind beside knowing that there was a virtual reality that everyone in the movie used. I couldn't have been happier with what I ended up seeing, with a movie chock full of characters I could feel invested on, a creative story, plenty of laughs and references to spot, and a fun viewing experience that is my favorite so far of 2018. (Image Source) Story: It was almost a refreshing feeling walking into a movie and figuring out the plot from watching it than from the trailers. The story of Ready Player One is essentially a video game, with different challenges that need to be completed in order to reach the end, and each challenge was different from the last and a blast to watch. The epic race from the trailers wastes no time in giving viewers a mons
