(Image Source) The Super Mario Bros movie turned out to be a very fast paced, entertaining movie that remained very faithful to the source material. It makes me very excited to see the Mario universe further fleshed out in the film realm, and the outstanding financial success of the movie no doubts ensures we'll be seeing Mario and friends on the big screen again! With this first movie we got a lot of the classic Mario characters, locations, and power ups we expect from the franchise like Bowser, Peach, Luigi, fire flower, along with some great franchise call outs like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong! There's still so much from the videogame realm I'd love to see make its way into this new world, one which feels as though it has jumped right out of Nintendo! 5. World of Nintendo's line has taken an unfortunate turn away from encompassing all of Nintendo to essentially just being a bunch of Mario characters, with a grand shift towards different variations of Mario himself. While I'm still sad we won't be getting any of Nintendo characters int he foreseeable future, I'm trying to make the best of the situation and am thinking about which Mario renditions I would like to see in the line. It seems as though Jakks Pacific's World of Nintendo line has returned in full force with new waves arriving regularly and a whole new line look being added to the packaging. Things are feeling fresh again and the character selection has been upped to very wise choices even if they are all skewing towards the Mario franchise. Naturally, with the line being back and pumping out figures without huge waits between waves it has made me think about what figures I want to see produced. After a promising start, Jakks Pacific's 4 inch World of Nintendo line has quickly fallen into something that is more of an agitation than a full on toy line. Initially, it appeared that games of all kinds would be represented, though with Mario being a constant center, and by now the line has become almost entirely Mario based with no change in sight. Despite all this, I am still a fan of the line and the figures that it produces, and as always I have a few on my wishlist that I hope are fulfilled at some point. 1. Kiddie Kong/Dixie Kong To this day, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble remains the only Donkey Kong video game that I have truly and fully played aside from Donkey Konga 2.
