2023 brought with it lots of great action figures from different companies that I've already gone through in depth in previous posts. 2022 I thought was one of the best years Mcfarlane had with the DC Comics license, though had a few hiccups that I discussed in a previous list. With 2023, I don't think they had any figures that were egregious in quality; however, with as many releases as we got there were definitely some that I was more let down with than others. So this will be my ranking of my top 5 least favorite Mcfarlane DC Multiverse figures of 2023.  (Images Source) Honorable mention: Anti-Monitor Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that we have Anti-Monitor in the line as such an important character in DC's history and he pairs fantastically with so many other Crisis on Infinite Earths figures we've been getting lately. With 2023 about to leave us in the rearview, and 2024 coming upon us, I've got my thoughts and projections about what we'll see in the widely varied DC Multiverse line from Mcfarlane. This year brought a lot of very cool focuses and sets such as Flashpoint, waves based on live action Batman films from years past, and surprises like Black Lightning, Animal Man, and Waverider! There will always be curveball figure releases that I can't see coming, but based on gut intuition and what seems to be trends for the line, these are the top 5 things I expect to see released by Mcfarlane for their DC Comics line in 2024! (Image Source) Mcfarlane's line has undoubtedly a heavy focus on Batman related characters, followed by Superman related designs and characters. Beyond that, Flash is easily the next hero to enjoy the spotlight in the line, followed by numerous variants of Wonder Woman (although we're only just now getting a more standard Wonder Woman design in the line). One Justice League character that deserves more than they've gotten so far would be Aquaman, King of Atlantis! We got an awesome comic book interpretation of the character to coincide with the Endless Winter wave, and after that a Page Punchers collection was released that can be seen above, which greatly expanded the cast of Aquaman characters in the line, not to mention the New 52 Orm released as a Target exclusive. Taking a break from our look back at 2022, I want to focus on 2023 and what I think we could likely see from Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line! It has been exponentially growing through the years, with the character selection absolutely unpredictable at times (Who would've expected that Frankenstein figure?) and the future seemingly open for any character and design to be introduced to the line. There's a few characters and designs I'm expecting to see this year, and here is my ranking of those 5 ideas! Sinister Strange This was the one we all thought was Strange Supreme after the first trailers but the movie itself makes it very evident that this is not the case, the character has a different history and very much strays towards the side of evil. He did provide for one of the visually most exciting fights in the movie for the short time he was present, especially the musical battle sequence! (Image Source) 4. The Illuminati There's one character from this team that I will safe for later on but the team as a whole was very cool to see and provided for one of the most gruesome battle scenes in the whole of the MCU! There were so many awesome easter eggs to be found in this group as well, with Black Bolt being brought back with a comic accurate suit, Xavier from the X-Men films being present, and Captain Carter being translated into live action! One of DC's most iconic and popular villains of all time, the Joker has gotten plenty of love from the Mcfarlane line that reflects a lot of the villain's costumes across the DC multiverse! Since my last list we've gotten a few more figures, including all three of the Three Jokers, the Dark Knight Returns, and while it wasn't the version that I wanted we still did get a New 52 Death of the Family Joker. Killing Joke If we're going to keep talking about iconic designs for the Joker it will be pretty hard not to bring up his look from the Killing Joke in which he visited Gordon's apartment wearing a Hawaiian shirt, then shot and crippled Barbara. It remains as one of the biggest moments in DC's history, and would be a figure of the Joker unlike any other in the line so far.  (Image Source) 4. It feels like Transformers Generation 2 has been getting a love of deserved love lately from the War for Cybertron toyline as well as most recently in the Legacy line. I'm all for it, as the original 12 issue Generation 2 comic was an era of Transformers I didn't mind one bit! The toyline had a lot of really interesting characters and repaints as well that the modern toylines have been taking advantage of from Sideswipe to the Seekers Ramjet and Sandstorm, with of course Megatron getting his camo repaint. Leadfoot has been G2's most recent stamp in the modern collecting world, but by far the Legacy Laser Optimus Prime and Jhiaxus reign supreme when it comes to G2 figures and are such fantastic, faithful takes on the characters.
