Hasbro's Star Wars the Black Series line hasn't had my attention as of late as it used to have, which may be attributed to several other toylines pulling me up and other toylines giving me more of what I want whereas a lot of recent Black Series offerings haven't entirely been tailored towards me. However, 2024 looks to be a banger of a year so far with a heavy focus on the prequels which I will always be excited about, but being that there are pipelined characters and creatures I've been wanting for a while, as this is all just a taste of what we're getting this year! So with 2024 rolling through into March already, these are my top 5 most anticipated Black Series releases of the year! 5. Anakin and Padme (Phantom Menace) (Images Source) For a while I've been wanting the Phantom Menace versions of Anakin and Padme, and especially more Padme figures as she has so many iconic looks through the series! (Image Source) One of my favorite designed factions from the Star Wars universe is certainly the Separatist armada from the Star Wars prequel trilogy! The droid army and every vehicle in their arsenal have some great designs that make them some of the most fun and unique ships in the Star Wars universe! We've dipped our toes into the Confederacy garage but I'm hoping Jazwares' Micro Galaxy Squadron toyline will dive headlong into this side of the galaxy, especially with how many Republic Clone and Jedi ships we've gotten so far! 5. Vulture Droid (Image Source) We've seen this design appear in the cardstock art of so many releases at this point, and typically it seems that once a ship design it used for cardstock artwork on the packaging it is either out in the line or coming out in the next wave or 2. The Mandalorian has definitely become the Black Series' bread and butter as of late, and the season 1 cast has only grown in toy form with the Client, Death Watch Mandalorian, Zero, Fennec Shand, and a future season 1 Mayfeld all becoming a reality from my last list.  (Image Source) Episode 1: Mythrol When looking at the breadth of characters still left to do from the Mandalorian tv series, the Mythrol seems to be becoming more and more of a higher priority character as other designs and figures are released. He was one of the first characters we were introduced to in the series which instantly makes him a classic, and his return in season 2 only further cements our need for this cool alien bounty.  (Image Source) Episode 2: Offworld Jawa elder A army builder for the line that could easily re-use a lot of pre-existing tooling from the current Offworld Jawa, the Elder is one that has been released in the Vintage Collection already giving us a good idea of what an eventual Black...

There's some really obvious characters and designs from the Star Wars universe that I'm very surprised we haven't gotten in the line yet! We've been getting a lot of those characters such as Saw Gerrera, Boba Fett and Ahsoka from The Mandalorian, as well as Echo from the Bad Batch to finish out the team; there still somehow always seems to be more big characters that have yet to be introduced to this nearly 10 year old line at this point! Endor rebels For a long time all we were getting were Stormtroopers and Clone troopers, and then we got the release of the Fleet Trooper who was followed soon after by the Hoth rebel trooper, adding to the ranks of the rebellion and filling out two big designs from the original trilogy. A list of characters from the original Star Wars movie that needs to be made into figures for the Black Series line continues to shrink, and with Wedge, Ceremony Luke, and the Cantina Band now a full fledged reality in 6 inch form I'm bringing to the table 5 more of my most wanted figures from the movie that started it all! Admiral Motti This is easily the the figure that would take the least effort from Hasbro to put out, and with them having released so many other Imperial officers over the past couple of years I'm almost surprised that this guy hasn't made the cut! Newer shows like Mandalorian and Bad Batch, as well as Clone Wars' final season, all have gotten a decent amount of action figures to round out the cast and characters of those shows. Heck, Mandalorian figures have all but taken over the line! So I was a bit surprised to see that with the release of Star Wars Visions as an anthology type series hailing from the Star Wars universe, there hasn't been a single Black Series figure in sight from Hasbro! Not much in the way of product support in any way in fact. I think this is a shame as overall I really enjoyed the show and thought that some of the episodes truly stood out in a memorable way, with character designs that I would love to have in action figure form! With nearly every corner of the Star Wars universe getting action figures to this point, I'm holding hope that it's just a bit early and figures are due down the line once the designs and the show have been out for a while. I remember when Hasbro made the announcement that they would be focusing on finishing teams that they've started or will start, and that made many fans, including me, so happy! We've seen quite a bit of their focus on that recently too, we FINALLY got Bodhi Rook in order to complete the Rogue One team, Ponda Baba and Dr Evazen are both being released at the same time to round out that dynamic duo, and from pipeline reveals we know we will be getting Fennec Shand and Boba Fett from the Mandalorian to finish out the season 2 finale crew. So many teams are coming together so quick, but there are lots that still need to either be finished out, and in this list I will count down my top 5 most wanted Black Series Star Wars team sets vol 2!
