With dozens of more figures coming out every year between new designs, new characters, and updates to classic designs, here is another running down looking at what came before (Mattel's DC offerings on the left side) and comparing them to what modern day has given us (Mcfarlane's DC offerings on the right). So with 10 comparisons to run through, here is my 8th run down of DC action figure's past and present! (Images Source - unless stated otherwise) Captain Atom A very simple design from the comics for toylines to take on, Captain Atom is one of my personal favorite characters in the DC universe and I was thrilled to see an updated version of the character crop up in Mcfarlane's line of 7 inch scale figures. As with the original Mattel figure, Mcfarlane's incorporates a painted on insignia, and both employ a nice metallic look to their figures. (Image Source) When Mcfarlane first starting revealing DC vs Vampires exclusive figures for Walmart I was initially on the fence. I was thinking to myself that I would've preferred a classic Red Rain Vampire Batman over one inspired by a cover art for a comic where Batman is never actually a vampire. Then we got Vampire Joker, also inspired by cover art, followed by an awesome looking Vampire Superman and Vampire Hal Jordan, and I'm fully on board with this subset at this point. The headsculpts for each are fantastic, and when all put together it is a epic looking set of DC vampires! While I lost interest in the series itself after the time skip at issue 7, the cover arts continued to depict creepy looking vampire versions of DC's heroes and villains, and these are my top most wanted pics for the next DC vs Vampires Mcfarlane figures!   (Image Source) If there is one group in DC comics that Mcfarlane has been showing especial love to it has been the Bat family and their rogues gallery. This is unsurprising as Batman and his mythos are certainly the most popular part of the DC Universe right now (a quick look at DC Comics solicitations will reveal a startling amount of Bat-related titles, whereas characters like Aquaman have no currently running comic series). Since my last list talking about Batman supporting characters that I want in the line we've received multiple Tim Drakes, Batman Beyond, Batwing, as well as an awesome looking Batwoman (stuck in a three pack with rereleases unfortunately), and so here is my updated list of most wanted Mcfarlane DC Multiverse Batman supporting characters.  5. (Image Source) I really enjoyed the team dynamic of the Rebirth era Detective Comics and was actually quite sad when the Gotham Knights team came to an end. It was a great way to get to know a lot of those characters more and see their individual relationships amongst one another that really fleshed out their personalities and development more than just them showing up in a solely Batman focused story. We've gotten a few characters from the team so far like a standard Rebirth Batman and a Clayface, but throughout the series there are plenty more designs to be tapped upon and these are my top 5 most wanted! 5. Batwing Taking up the mantle of the team's tech expert in Tim's absence, Batwing was a fun character to see explore the technological possibilities of the team and then to see him and Tim discussing their advancements once he returned from Oz's prison. A very underrated series that I don't hear enough people talk about! Both the New 52 and Rebirth era gave us entertaining storylines for one of the biggest bat characters not in Mcfarlane's line so far! (Image Source) 5. Q-Ball This character's presence in the comics was extremely limited and to the point that I'm certain Mcfarlane will never actually make this character in the toyline! I bet most people would probably think you were lying if you said DC Comics' had a character named "Q-Ball" who leads the "Pool Hall Gang." Despite their short lived appearances in the comics I greatly enjoyed their inclusion, and who knows, as simple of their designs were maybe I'll custom together my own Pool Hall Gang! Mcfarlane has been diving hard into all corners of the comic world of DC Comics! Characters from all eras and many different elseworlds have all been touched upon, which is more than I could have asked for from a line called "DC Multiverse!" From my previous two lists talking about my most wanted comic book figures we've actually gotten quite a few, from the rest of the Dark Knights, to more Justice League members like Flash, Aquaman, and Martian Manhunter, along with multiple Green Lanterns, several Wonder Womans, a heaping list of Batman rogues, and freaking Starro himself! There's still plenty of big name heroes and villains who have yet to get figures of their own at this point though, and this list will be going over my newest top 5 from the comic world!
