(Images Source) Sonic the Hedgehog 3 taking the top spot on my list of favorite 2024 movies should tell you all you need to know about what I thought of the incredible conclusion to Sonic's first movie trilogy. It was a hilarious and emotional delight from start to finish, with Shadow the Hedgehog one of the sickest film characters of the year to debut, and Gerald and Ivo stealing every single scene they appeared in. The film also gave us a lot of what I was hoping to see between Shadow's videogame accurate backstory, the results of Jim Carrey's retirement handled (he came out of retirement!), and we kind of got the Chao by way of the Japanese restaurant. SPOILERS ahead for the post credit scene at the end of the film, which also gifted us with the live action debuts of both Metal Sonic and Amy setting up what is sure to be an incredible fourth entry in the series by 2027. (Images Source) While the heroes are pretty cool, the villain side of things has always housed some of my favorite characters and designs in DC Comics which is probably why projects like Suicide Squad appeal to me so much. Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line from the start has been generous with villain figures throughout the run so far; however, as of late they've been dipping into quite obscure and random villains which I am more than ecstatic about! I was not expecting at all to be getting figures of Sportsmaster, Hugo Strange as Batman, or Dr. Tyme of all people! While Platinum figures are a hassle and a headache to track down there's no doubting that the spectrum of characters we can see released has certainly been opened up. From Blackfire to Effigy to Manhunters we are seeing all kinds of villains slotted into the line so far, and with this list I'm just going to ramble on about five random villains I'd like to see in the line!   (Image Source) The latest Disney+ Star Wars show has wrapped up and Ahsoka has added another epic chapter to the Disney Star Wars universe. We got what is essentially another season of Rebels, one of the best animated shows from the universe, and it was epic seeing so many of those characters in live action for the first time! Not only that, but we were introduced to plenty of great new characters as well such as Baylan and Shin, and Hasbro's Black Series line has done a fantastic job of really filling out the cast of the series so far! Even still, there are some major characters that Hasbro hasn't touched upon yet, and in this list I'll be counting down my top 5 most wanted figures from the Ahsoka series! 5. Bonecrusher is upcoming at the end of this year which I couldn't be more excited for, and in previous years we got both Ratchet and Blackout, checking them off my list as well! For my updated list of Movie Masterpiece figures I want made I will also be taking the Constructicons off as overall it is an unrealistic hope for the Masterpiece line which releases so few figures a year. (Image Source) When Mcfarlane initially announced their Demon Slayer line of figures I was excited but cautiously optimistic, knowing how easily Mcfarlane stops and starts figure lines. The first wave of figures gave us three great figures in Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Nezuko, and SDCC revealed four additional figures being brought to the line going forward! Rengoku, Rui, Kocho, and Inosuke! This has me hopeful that the line will be around for a bit, especially with the show's overall popularity! (Image Source) Mattel's Masterverse line seems to have taken on a whole new life from where it started. At first it looked to be a toyline representing simply the Revelation series on Netflix, but that has quickly changed and Masterverse is pulling from every corner of the MOTU franchise that it can! The live action movie, Revelation, New Adventures, as well as She-Ra and "New Eternia" which is essentially updates to those original classic designs. We've gotten so many fantastic reveals as of late either from Revelation itself or from "New Eternia" that check off a lot of my wanted figures such as Clawful, Whiplash, Buzz-Off, and Clamp Champ, with the recent SDCC also gifting us with Sorceress Teela and Orko the white from Revelation! (Image Source) The Super Mario Bros movie turned out to be a very fast paced, entertaining movie that remained very faithful to the source material. It makes me very excited to see the Mario universe further fleshed out in the film realm, and the outstanding financial success of the movie no doubts ensures we'll be seeing Mario and friends on the big screen again! With this first movie we got a lot of the classic Mario characters, locations, and power ups we expect from the franchise like Bowser, Peach, Luigi, fire flower, along with some great franchise call outs like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong! There's still so much from the videogame realm I'd love to see make its way into this new world, one which feels as though it has jumped right out of Nintendo! 5. Kicking off with a cataclysmic accident in Gotham, we follow Batman as he runs the gambit of his greatest foes trying to find out who is behind all of the trauma happening, leading up to a great twist with plenty of spotlight to be given to plenty of the Bat family throughout!
