With the rereleases of Final form Cooler and Broly due out this year, and Tamashii Nations' focus on the Frieza saga and Daima lines seemingly beginning to wane, I'm hoping to see more of the Z film characters and namely the villains get more S.H.Figuarts going forward. There were some amazing designs and characters introduced in these movies, and the hype is certainly real for these characters especially as we saw how excited fans were for Turles. This list compiles my top five most wanted Dragon Ball Z film figures!
5. Cooler's Armored Squadron
The Cooler movies have enjoyed two really well done offerings from Tamashii at this point with their final form Cooler and the Metal Cooler from the sequel. The perfect way to continue to build out these movies' roster would be with the Armored Squadront hat flanked him similar to Frieza's Ginyu force. All three had great alien designs, Neiz being easily my favorite with his lanky, squished head design, and Salza has actually been touched upon by a third party company already showing that demand is out there for this trio.
4. Bio-Broly
With Broly winning the rerelease poll, it makes me wonder if his popularity will lead to us soon seeing more forms of this characters released throughout the line. His powered down version is an obvious next step; however, I would actually really like to get his Bio-Broly clone from the third film in his trilogy. It was a disgusting, genetically unsound beast of an enemy in the film and its haunting form would certainly make for a standout villain design in the line so far.
3. Garlic Jr.
The very first Z film villain is one that ended up getting an arc in the anime itself as well later on. Garlic Jr' is a classic case of a villain seeking out more power, leading to a power up, leading to an awesome battle with the characters. His diminutive form would be fun, but my focus is more on getting his powered up form as seen in the picture above.
2. Lord Slug
One of my favorite Z films ended up being the Lord Slug encounter, seeing this rogue Namekian surfacing to do battle with the heroes of Earth. I loved the reveal of his Namekian heritage, and the entire battle with him was thrilling leading me to wanting a figure of him in the line. His design is a great one that isn't too complicated or noisy, and for accessories it is already obvious that he will need an alternate, unmasked head.
1. Janemba
I'm sure this character tops off the list of many others' most wanted DBZ film figures. Janemba is from the later films and enjoys a very nice upgrade to the animation with the later game Z animation. His design alone is incredible with the purples and reds across a sick alien design, not to mention his sword, and his teleportation technique would be insane in figure form if they can somehow figure that out. Dragon Stars' gave us Janemba a long time back, and I'm hoping S.H.Figuarts can finally catch up with this great villain.
