Top 5 things I want to see in The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel

The Super Mario Bros movie turned out to be a very fast paced, entertaining movie that remained very faithful to the source material. It makes me very excited to see the Mario universe further fleshed out in the film realm, and the outstanding financial success of the movie no doubts ensures we'll be seeing Mario and friends on the big screen again! With this first movie we got a lot of the classic Mario characters, locations, and power ups we expect from the franchise like Bowser, Peach, Luigi, fire flower, along with some great franchise call outs like Mario Kart and Donkey Kong! There's still so much from the videogame realm I'd love to see make its way into this new world, one which feels as though it has jumped right out of Nintendo!

5. Luigi's power ups

Luigi spent most of the movie as the damsel in distress, though he got to take part in the finale with an awesome sequence that highlighted the fact that this is the "Super Mario BROS" movie! I'd love to see Luigi get to do more in the sequel though, and take on more power ups of his own after his brother got to try out so many!

4. Princess Daisy

Speaking of giving Luigi something more to do, it could be a great motivator for him to want to be braver if he had his own princess to try and impress. Princess Daisy could be a very fun addition to the main cast of characters, and give Peach another female to interact with. 

3. More Mario power ups

Don't get me wrong, we got to see a whole lot of power ups in this first movie from across all the games. Fire flower, Tanooki, cat, and super star were the big ones; however, there are still so many more! Penguin and Bee would both be a ton of fun, along with the classic Ice power up, and for a grand action sequence the Giga mushroom could really lend itself to a crazy power up sequence!

2. Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings

Where the movie leads off, the most obvious choices for villains in the next film would be Bowser Jr. and the rest of the Koopalings! With Bowser imprisoned, it would make sense for his family to come out of the woodwork to try and free him, and with the popularity of these characters on the videogame side of things I'm sure that would translate to a film debut as well! Bringing in a team of villains could really allow the main hero cast to shine as well, with Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, and Donkey Kong all able to fight as a team more so than they were against the one man army that was Bowser.

1. Wario and Waluigi

My top favorite characters of the Mario franchise were nowhere to be seen during the events of the first movie, not even a mention of any kind, but I would be over the hill if Wario and Waluigi were to appear in a sequel! With Mario and Luigi now touted as very successful heroes, it would be another easy plot thread to follow to have essentially even versions of the brothers show up out of jealousy, spite, or some other dark motivator to try and snatch their fame away. All I know is that if they release a teaser trailer for Super Marios Bros 2 and it includes with a deafening "WAH!" I will faint.
