Most wanted alternate versions of McFarlane DC Multiverse characters vol 9

Mcfarlane has continued giving us a plethora of characters and designs based on the DC Multiverse with several new characters being introduced into the toyline, along with several different variations on characters letting the line live up to the "Multiverse" title! I personally love seeing so many different versions of characters in the line, and here's another list going over alternate versions of characters I want to see in the toyline that we already have one or more figures of in some capacity!

Jay Garrick: Earth 2 New 52                        Wallace West: Future's End                          Impulse: Bar Torr

Kicking off this round of alternate designs I want to see from characters we've got in some shape or form already will be lots of Speedsters, and lots of New 52 designs I hope to see eventually! I am in love with the Jay Garrick we're getting, but Earth 2 never strays far from my mind when thinking about the Justice Society and the New 52 Jay Garrick would pair wonderfully with the Thomas Wayne Batman we've gotten! Wallace West's Future's End design is one I've fawned over on this blog plenty of times before, with the silver absolutely shining, and the same goes for the red and golds of the New 52's "Bart Allen" otherwise known as Bar Torr who has pretty much been phased out of existence at this point in exchange for our usual Bart.

Raven and Beast Boy: Teen Titans cartoon

I'm still holding out hope that eventually Mcfarlane will return to the Teen Titans cartoon and finish off the team he started with Cyborg way back in 2020 when the line first began! We're getting two comic versions of Beast Boy back to back, along with our first Raven, and while they look great I'd rather be getting the versions from my childhood!

Bane and Two-Face: Arkham videogames

One thing the toyline certainly has not been lacking in has been videogame based figures from the Arkham-verse, with 2022 giving us more than 10 figures from the excellent game series! One design I'm especially anticipating would be Bane from Asylum and City, I absolutely loved his hulking brute design and he remains one of the most iconic parts of the series for me. We've gotten numerous other versions of Bane at this point, so it should be the videogame's turn. That goes for Two-Face as well. While we haven't gotten a proper comic version yet, the Arkham City design for Harvey is one of my all time favorite with the burnt, ragged suit that encompasses the entirety of his left side all the way down to his leg!

Captain Cold and Heatwave: New 52                                                                                The Atom: Atomica

Jumping back into the New 52 universe for a few villains, two of my all time storylines from that era of DC comics was pretty much the entire Flash run, and the incredible Forever Evil stuff! While Snart and Mick's classic designs are wholly classic and iconic, and back in current continuity, their New 52 designs really struck me in the right spot. The Page Punchers designs we got were fun, but I'd love to get some established comic looks for these two, which would be prime for effect pieces to capture their torturous powers! Both got to have a sizable role in the Forever Evil comic as well! With Heatwave in the Rogues tie in, and Captain Cold in the main storyline himself. Atomica may be my favorite version of the Atom in DC comics, and part of the New 52 Crime Syndicate which itself was a great twist when she turned on the Justice League! The New 52 Crime Syndicate itself is a display I would love Mcfarlane to one day release, and Atomica would be a small step towards that.

Black Manta: DCEU                                                                   Mr. Freeze: Batman and Robin

Heading into live action film territory, I'd love a DCEU version of Black Manta to follow the Page Punchers version we're going to be getting. The suit he wore in the first Aquaman film looked awesome and I loved the mechanical tubing and detail, not to mention the bulbous head signature for the character! The suit is getting a redesign for the new movie, this time looking almost 1:1 for the classic comic design! Another comic book baddie I'd love to get an updated action figure for would be Mr. Freeze based on the lamented Batman and Robin movie! It's a silly, categorically cheesy and not great movie but at this point that's almost the charm of the movie. It's fun to watch and cringe, so at the very least its entertaining in its own way and the chief of entertainment in that movie is Arnold's Mr. Freeze!

Eradicator: Reign of the Supermen             Conner Kent: T-shirt                                   Supergirl: comic

We have been getting a decent amount of Superman related characters in the line, with multiple versions of the main hero along with several villains lined up on the shelf. Most recently we've gotten the Rebirth era interpretation of the Eradicator who I actually really enjoy as an antagonist and am very happy to add him to the Revenge Squad display! A more classic Reign of the Supermen version would be welcome in the future too with human skin color as opposed to the Rebirth's pitch black. Conner Kent is one that we're newly adding to the display as well, and while it is based on his current Rebirth era look the design is easily passible for that Reign of the Supermen look (just missing the glasses). So for Conner I'd opt for his black T-shirt look he's worn in the comics, including the fateful moment in Infinite Crisis when he faces Superboy Prime. This look could also easily be resculpted into Match, who had a prominent role in the Infinite Frontier Suicide Squad series. Finally, we've gotten a Supergirl figure by way of the Injustice figures which I'm very happy about, and now there is a whole plethora of comic book designs out there to be chosen from. James Gunn's recent film announcements brought Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow to my attention and after reading it I would absolutely love a comic Supergirl based on her current design.

Wally West: Infinite Frontier                                                Donna Troy: Troia

Adding some Titan flavor to the list, we've got another Flash in the form of Wally who now has both his Rebirth design along with the Flash Forward blue design locked down in the toyline already. He's been making splashes with his return to being the main Flash in DC comics, headlining the monthly series and giving us some extremely fun storylines so far! With his return to prominence he has a new suit more evocative of the typical Flash design, one which I could see Mcfarlane easily bringing into the line. Wally's former Titans teammate Donna Troy is getting into the line as well; however, the next version of that character I'd be excited to see would actually be her villainous alternate timeline incarnation: Troia! Introduced in the Rebirth Titans era, a disillusioned Donna became one of the Titans greatest foes, and would be a perfect villain to go with the new set of Titans figures recently revealed!

Duke Thomas: We Are Robin

Our Bat family displays grew with the inclusion of The Signal into the line, a character and design that was really in sore need of an action figure and Mcfarlane certainly delivered on that front! It is very fresh given that Mattel utilized a different design when they brought Duke Thomas to their Multiverse line; however, now that we have The Signal in the display it would be cool to get Duke's We Are Robin design as well!

Kyle Rayner: White Lantern                           Power Ring: Jessica Cruz                    Deadman: Black Lantern

Getting into the Lantern side of things, we've been enjoying a lot of Lantern focused exploration this past year will multiple Green Lanterns, Black Lanterns, and beyond. We got Kyle in his more iconic white and black costume which I was very excited about, and even his Blue Lantern design as a bonus! So now I'm aiming for the White Lantern design to become a reality which could easily re-use the same mold he's been using for three figures now! The Emerald Knight/Power Ring we got is very cool as well; however, I think my favorite version of Power Ring has to be when Volthoom mind controlled Jessica Cruz. I loved the vest and the headband, and it's a design that has never enjoyed action figure focus! Finally, Deadman is an intensely fun addition to any supernatural DC Multiverse display, and there's two big designs for the character I'd love to see next. His Black Lantern incarnation would look perfect alongside the other Black Lanterns we've gotten and his being an actual skeleton would be so unique for the line, which goes along with his Kingdom Come design which similarly presents him as simply a skeleton!
