Top 5 most wanted Star Wars the Black Series aliens from The Phantom Menace
The prequel love is very strong recently in Star Wars the Black Series, the line of 6 inch collection figures covering the Star Wars franchise. It felt like, as a prequel fan, that I was gasping for prequel figures in the collection not only a year ago but now we've had a flood of them, with another flood quickly coming! It's gotten me more excited for the line than I've been in a long time, and I've been thinking about some choice prequel characters I'd like to see! Aliens are getting a bit of a resurgence in the line as well, with prequel Jedi, Moloch, Rio, and a few others, so what better list to make than my most wanted aliens from the prequels? For this post I'm focusing in on Phantom Menace which had a great selection of aliens! And here are my top 5!

5. Pod racers
Undoubtedly, one of the best scenes of the whole prequel trilogy was the podracing during Phantom Menace, which truly was a Star Wars universe stable afterwards. While later movies had their Catina and Jabba's palace patrons, Phantom Menace had their Pod racers as their obligatory crowd of cool looking aliens. Folks like Dud Bolt and Gasgano would be amazing to have in 6 inch style!

4. Nute Gunray
A common misconception about Phantom Menace is one people also have about A New Hope. In the 4th Star Wars film Vader wasn't the main villain, Tarken was; Vader was basically just a lackey in that film. Similarly, Maul is just a Sith hound sent to back up Nute Gunray who was actually in charge of the siege over Naboo! Nute Gunray would be great to get in the line since we're getting so many prequel villains these days, and it would be a welcome alien to the line as well.

3. Sebulba
Another thing I love about episode 1 is that so many of the main characters themselves were aliens! All of the primary foes they fought against were aliens, and that included the podracer Sebulba! I didn't mention him in the slot about pod racers because I know he is a main enough character to be given his own slot. His rivalry with Anakin fueled most of the second act of the film, and his strange, eccentric design would give the Hasbro designers a chance to stretch their skills more than just humanoid figures.

2. Watto
Another main character of the film, Watto was the junker and slave owner of Anakin and his mother who later gave Ani up after losing a bet. While I enjoyed this funky looking aliens presence, I also love his abstract design with the round body, trunk nose, and wings that don't seem like they should be able to keep him up!

1. Jar Jar
I know any Star Wars fans reading this might be rolling their eyes, or even clicking off, but while Jar Jar was a bit over the top in the film he would still make for an amazing action figure! Aliens by any stretch make awesome action figures, and Jar Jar with his elongated ears and crab-like eyes were definitely stand out against the other Star Wars characters on the shelf.
