Top 5 favorite NYCC 2024 reveals

NYCC 2024 has come and gone with numerous reveals from multiple companies making for another great showing of figures still to come for 2024 and beyond in 2025. Here I will count down some of my favorite reveals from the show, starting off with an honorable mention!

Honorable mention: GI Joe Classified

There were not any particular characters revealed for the GI Joe classified line that really wowed me this time around for reveals, but what was shown off was still very cool. The Retro release of Dr. Mindbender is a release I'm really looking forward to to get the character into my collection, and then the line delving into First Responders is very cool and the Firefighter is such a great release from the real world, especially with my best friend being a firefighter! The Hunt for the Mass Device's first reveal turned out to be a new Snake Eyes with a freaking Polar Bear which looks so cool! So while none of my most wanted were revealed or teased, what was shown was still very cool.  

5. X-Men '97 Sentinel

A reveal I was not expecting was a 97' animation version of the Sentinel but now that it was revealed it is beautiful! Another grand figure with a preorder window as opposed to being made as a Haslab, it replicates the design from the animated series effectively, and is a great central display piece for all the 97' animation figures we've received as of late. 

4. Jada Toys Scooby Doo

I've spoken before about how ecstatically excited I am for the Jada Toys Scooby Doo line of figures and the potential this line has, and the title character himself has debuted at NYCC! While I was hoping to have the rest of his second wave revealed alongside him, Scooby is a headliner reveal enough and looks like he leapt right out of the cartoon! He looks fitting alongside Shaggy, further exacerbating my excitement for this line, especially with in-box pics seeming to indicate the first releases could be soon (unlike the long gestating Cyberpunk Edgerunners figures).

3. Studio Series Hatchet

A long, long overdue figure is that of Hatchet from Dark of the Moon! I was certain that when the Studio Series Transformers line began, with their self proclaimed focus on characters and designs that either never got figures or needed proper updates, Hatchet seemed like a shoe-in as a character whose only prior release had been an inaccurate out of scale jet-former! Alas, we went years without this character in the line until leaked pics of a cancelled Buzzworthy Bumblebee release made its rounds in 2022, that figure is now finally seeing release in the mainline next year, and as a big fan of the Dreads and the highway chase sequence it will be satisfying to complete the team after so long!

2. S.H.Figuarts Tsunade

Tamashii Nations did not wait long after Shikamaru to reveal the next figure in their bombastic Naruto line and it is none other than Lady Tsunade herself! With this release we are rounding out the trip of legendary Sanin that started with Orochimaru and the Jiraiya rerelease, and she also marks another female character in the figure line which is long overdue. While I think a cloth hayori would've been great to pose her in her sleeveless look, not to mention a cloth goods Hokage Cloak, but nonetheless this is another release in the line that Im greatly anticipating. 

1. DC Multiverse

If there is one line that continues to thrill me, even with its ups and downs, it is Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line and it's ever growing cast of characters and designs that makes it feel like any character is on the table to be made at some point! This convention's showing revealed long awaited characters like Power Girl and Guy Gardener, as well as characters I wasn't quite expecting right now like Wildcat, Orion, as well as a Tempest (mislabeled Aqualad in the PowerPoint) that goes very well with the Rebirth Titans wave we got before. One of the coolest parts of this presentation was that a poll was conducted during the length of the presentation where fans could vote for which character would be prioritized for release next year! Classic Bizarro and Eradicator are both ones I could see easily being released anyways, and Guardian would be another easy release using existing male body molds; however, Jade is a more obscure female character and thankfully won! So being able to look forward to a Jade release next year is great news for someone who loved the Infinity Inc series!
