3 Reasons to Preorder DST's Pacific Rim Figures

In a recent inquiry to Diamond Select Toys about wave 4 of their Pacific Rim line, I was told they they would be waiting to see how wave 3 did at retail first, then added that preorders are more important now than ever with Toysrus going under. With this response, it seems to me that the fate of the Pacific Rim line rests solely in the performance sales of wave 3, and the amount of preorders it recieves. I believe this also holds true for their first Kaiju releasing in September, Hakuja, and the fate of the Kaiju figures. So I am here to give you some reasons why you should want this line to continue, what could come next if it does, and why you should preorder wave 3 of Diamond Select's Pacific Rim wave 3 and Hakuja.

3. Wave 3 is awesome

To state the obvious, wave 3 is plainly a great line up of figures. November Ajax did not get much time in the movie, but while he was there it was a sleek Jaeger that reintroduced us to Pacific Rim's giant mechs. Valor Omega arguably got less to do, but is also arguably one of the coolest Jaegers in the film, especially with the turrets protruding from his wrists. Finally there is the hybrid Jaeger, one of the coolest designs from the film from one of the best action pieces, with a figure that looks appropriately awesome. Two are not essential, but look amazing, with the Kaiju infested mech being the obvious highlight, and a must buy.

2. Still more Pacific Rim: Uprising figures to be made

There are still more figures from the second movie that we need to fill out the set. Diamond Select has done a marvelous job giving us almost every Jaeger from the film, but there are still more figures to be made. The first is the uninfested variation of the Drone before it turned into the hybrid we see in wave 3. The Drone would be a great army builder, and has a design cool enough to stand on its own separate from its infected counterpart. Hakuja's sales could also pave the way for his two Kaiju brethren to stomp into collector's shelves as well, Shrikethorn and Raijin, and maybe even the Mega-Kaiju one day, all of which are very toyetic.

1. Figures from the first movie would be coming
This is something that Diamond Select Toys has confirmed to us before, and that is the fact that Pacific Rim 2 is not the restriction on their lisence, and that they're capable of making Pacific Rim 1 figures as well. This is exciting for a number of reasons, one of them being that while they were amazingly detailed and sculpted, NECA's figures had a tendency to break often with many of the Jaegers joints breaking far too easily, and at this point those figures have reached a much higher price point than what they initially sold for. Diamond Select could mend both of these with the fact that their figures aren't as prone to breakage, and they would release with an affordable price compared to trying to buy figures from a couple years ago. Diamond Select has already stated that their first Pacific Rim 1 figure would be Gypsy Danger, but it is the others that I am excited about. It is a possibility that their version of Crimson Typhoon could come with the bladed spinners seen in the movie, and on the Kaiju front collector's are still missing Raiju, Onibaba, and Slattern; with Leatherback sorely needing an updated, size accurate figure after NECA's undersized release.

And those are three reasons why you should preorder wave 3 of Diamond Select Toys' Pacific Rim figures, which can be done on multiple sites such as Bigbadtoystore.com and Toywiz.com. It is just as important to preorder the Kaiju Hakuja to ensure that more Kaiju are on their way, which can be done on the same sites, as well as Amazon.com. Help me in keeping this line stay alive, and to bring more Jaeger vs Kaiju madness to our shelves!
