Ranking my excitement for all 5 tv shows announced for James Gunn's DCU

James Gunn's DCU series is branching out into several forms of media, and while I've already gone over the movies in his initial line up that are coming out, I'm going to now talk about the five television shows hitting in the next several years. There are some projects here that I'm really looking forward to, and some that I am not as excited about, but it all promises to introduce plenty of exciting characters from the comics and widen out the breadth of this new DC series!

5. Waller

At the bottom of the list is the project I'm overall least excited about from all 10 projects, and that would be the Amanda Waller led tv show. I'm sure that given the right direction, story, and production it can come out great, I'm just not as interested in a tv show all about Amanda Waller as I am other prospects of the DC universe. I think she's worked really well as a side figure in the realm of the government from The Suicide Squad and Black Adam, but in a realm of super heroes and super villains, Waller just doesn't strike me as much of an interesting lead character.

4. Paradise Lost

A prequel series telling the history of Themyscira could be really interesting and grand; however, there have been no characters announced for the show so far, nor villains, and as we've seen a lot of Paradise Island through the Wonder Woman movies and Zach Snyder's Justice League it doesn't feel as fresh an idea to see the island. Perhaps once we hear more about the story, and the characters it will employ I will be more hype for this series but as it stands it is a neat idea that I don't feel rushed to go and see.

3. Booster Gold

Getting into the television shows I am more excited about, we're getting a comedy about Booster Gold which will herald his origin story and rise to the greatest hero you've never heard of! He has always been one of the strongest personalities in any comic he is involved in, and I can't wait to see his unique tale of stardom told on the big screen! While it would be heaven to get a series based around both him and Blue Beetle in the future I think starting with just Booster is a smart way to go about it, with his origin story a bit more complicated than some other heroes.

2. Creature Commandos

Just like The Authority, this project about a more obscure team of superheroes really took me off guard and tells me that just about anything is on the table for James Gunn to adapt into his DCU! Who would have guessed that Frankenstein and the Creature Commandos would be headlining their own animated series as one of the first projects in the rebooted DC movie franchise?! The cast of characters looks like a ton of fun with the return of Weasel, and introduction of figures like Frankenstein, G.I. Robot, and Nina Mazursky! The whole voice cast was recently announced too, spouting talent like David Harbour, Alan Tudyk, and Frank Grillo so my excitement for this project just continues to rise as it feels like something new and fresh!

1. Lanterns

With all the more minor characters getting spotlight in television form, it is only fitting that an A-list figure is slotted in and that's where we stand for Lanterns! Green Lantern is making a big return to live action form, and I'm really looking forward to seeing the Green Lantern Corps fleshed out over the course of a whole series, not to mention the inclusion of not only Hal Jordan but John Stewart as well! The show has been described as a mystery thriller, with the overall story leading into the larger scheme of what's occurring in the DCU, which all lends credence to Lanterns being one of the most anticipated projects spinning out in this new franchise!
