Top 5 things I expect to see in Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line in 2025
With 2025 nearly upon us we will likely begin to get Mcfarlane DC Multiverse reveals for next year starting any time now. As always I have my guesses about what will be coming, some maybe more wishful thinking than others, but my track record has not been terrible (my guesses for this year were over 75% accurate!) and so hopefully that proves true once again because along with these being my guesses for what we could see in the new year, I sorely hope to add most of them to the collection!
Honorable Mention: DCU Superman
Coming in as an honorable mention is a figure I'm not going to waste a slot on this list for because we absolutely know that the next big movie release in the DC film slate is going to get action figure representation from Mcfarlane as every new big media piece does. Superman is a given, the design that you see above is going to be released as a DC Multiverse action figure in 2025 without a doubt. Beyond that I do hope to see more figures such as Mr. Terrific and what looks to be a live action version of the Terrifics with Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Guy Gardener.5. Johnny Quick (JSA)
The release of Max Mercury shows that they are digging deep into Flash lore and I'm all for it especially as we're getting into more obscure, classic characters in DC's history. Female characters still seem to be a scarcity in the wave, and when taking into account the male protagonists of the Flash family the next big one would be Johnny Quick, not to be confused with the popular Crime Syndicate villain. This guy was a staple of classic DC comics, and most of his costume can be easily captured with the standard body mold many characters such as Max Mercury have used in the past. With Max we got a brand new forearm and hand sculpt to recreate his gloves which Johnny Quick shared, meaning all the pieces are in place for Johnny Quick to get a brand new action figure!4. Guy Gardener
While a live action version of this character may well be on the way due to the upcoming Superman film, a comic book one is long overdue. We have gotten multiples of Hal, John, and Kyle, along with other Lanterns like Abin Sur, Green Man, and even Batman! Guy is a sorely obvious hole in the Lantern collection and one that I think will finally be filled next year as Lanterns seem to be a group in DC comics Mcfarlane is paying attention to, and releasing a comic book version would capitalize well on the character's live action film debut.3. Batman and Robin Batmobile
The flood gates opened on Batmobiles this year and it was off to the races with several released in the past couple months alone! The Batman and Robin wave was one that came out before Batmobiles became a regular staple in the line (even comic book ones like White Knight!), but I think it is only a matter of time until they come around to give us this insane version of the iconic car. With a hefty chunk of the cast available in plastic form as of now, the Batmobile would be a welcome addition. It would also give Mcfarlane the opportunity to put out Clooney's Batman in his arctic gear and a cloth cape to have a mainline Clooney who can actually fit in the car!2. Classic Nightwing and Red Robin
The rest of this list is admittedly going to be very Batman heavy, and while the line's repertoire of non-Batman characters has been growing exponentially (Sportsmaster, Ambush Bug, The Question), there is still plenty of Batman lore to appeal to the mass audience. Dick and Tim have both had several of their iconic costumes captured in the line so far, and I can easily see these two designs being the next looks the character's sport for a 2025 release. The Max Mercury mold grants the line a deep cut, wide collared torso that can recreate Nightwing's classic uniform, while Tim's original Red Robin look is easily the next most popular look for the character yet to be checked off in the line so far.
1. Batman Returns
Taking top spot is a movie I was honestly surprised we did not see representation for this year! It was Batman Forever's year this time (absolutely love their Riddler figure), with Batman and Robin being 2023's classic Batman film wave, so with them seemingly working their way back in time it stands to reason that Devito's Penguin and Pfeiffer's Catwoman will finally enter the DC Multiverse line next year. The recent focus on live action properties is something I hope keeps up, and the classic Batman stuff will no doubt be where the line continues to pull from until it has run dry!
