Top 5 most wanted Hasbrolab projects

Not too long ago Hasbro launched their new crowdfunding service that would usher in a new process through which to do larger scale projects, and the first of their new kickstarter website was a 3.75 inch scale vehicle of Jabba's Sail Barge from Return of the Jedi that measured around 4 feet long! It came out to a roaring success despite a lull in its traction, and Hasbrolab is no doubt chugging along with optimism that this process can be a success going forward. It got me to thinking what I would like to see appear on this website in the coming years, what projects I've wanted that are now more of a possibility that Hasbrolab is now an option to get them made.

5. Bayformer Revenge of the Fallen Devastator

The only non-Star Wars item on this list, Devastator from the recent live action movies did not get to do much of anything during his time on screen but his design is still one I love even if it isn't very G1 inspired. With the recent start of Hasbro's Studio Series for the Transformers line, I have some semblance of hope that when they get around to the Constructicons they will make them capable of combining, but I still doubt they will. If they do, they will not be in scale because of the sheer size of Demolisher and that is only one of the Constructicons. That is where I think Hasbrolab can come in, they may not make seven separate figures that can combine but I think the way they could go is releasing Devastator as one massive non-transforming figure. Then they would be able to make a truly detailed, screen accurate Devastator figure, and Transformer collectors would have a beautiful figure to add to their set ups.

4. 6 inch scale Star Wars vehicles (X-wing, Naboo starfighter, Vulture droid, Tri-droid)

This entry is almost cheating as it encompasses essentially several possible released, but I truly cannot choose one when it comes to Star Wars vehicles. The First Order Tie Fighter did not do that great at retailers, and I believe that that is in part because they didn't go with the Original Trilogy Tie Fighter, but it was still thrown into the ring with those who wait until clearance, and Hasbrolab is a process that works against those who wait for clearance. That's why I think any further larger vehicles for the 6 inch format will be released through Hasbrolab, and the X-wing is the obvious choice for next (Hopefully the original trilogy version and not the sequel trilogy), but there are several others I would love to see as well, such as the Naboo starfighters from Phantom Menace, and Vulture droids and Tri-droids from the Clone Wars. There are so many vehicles from Star Wars I would love to see in 6 inch scale, and these are just a few.

3. 3.75 death star play set
When it comes to what the immediate future projects from Hasbrolab may be, none seem more likely than a 3.75 inch scale Death Star playset that would incorporate major locations from the movie. Scenes such as the trash compactor, or the detention center, or even the tractor beam room! It has been hinted at and rumored before by those behind Hasbrolab even, so my best bet would be that this playset will be popping up on the crowdfunding surface sometime next year, and I'm all up for that! Unlike the Sail Barge, collectors will undoubtedly have dozens of figures to crowd a Death Star playset, from stormtroopers to Vader and Ben Kenobi, collector shelves are already prepared to populate this project, and like Tarkin would say, "You may fire when ready," so Hasbrolab, go ahead and fire up this project!

2. 6 inch rancor

One of the standout scenes of Return of the Jedi was the surprising battle between Luke and the monster beneath Jabba's home. The Rancor was scary, intimidating, and towered above all the characters in the movie, as well as having a design perfect for a toy. There is no doubt a 6 inch scale version of the Rancor would be massive, and so Hasbrolab would be the perfect place for this figure to make its debut, and then hopefully to our shelves as something for Jabba to feed our other figures too. One thing is for sure, and that is that this would be one good looking chunk of plastic.

1. 6 inch Attack of the Clone Geonosian arena monsters

Still one of the favorite scenes from the prequels, the Geonosian arean scene during which the main characters are to be executed by three different creatures is a spectacle and a delight to watch. A large componant of that is that the creature design for the three monsters we are introduced too are magnificent, and show us the best of what the Star Wars design crew can do. The Reek with its rhino resemblance is a bulky, angry, steaming beast and the wide-mouthed Nexu was a prowling predator that would also fit in well with Tusken Raider set ups. The standout for me though was always the Ackley, the multi-limbed monster that came after Obi Wan. These three creatures remain my favorite of the creature designs in the films, and my hope is that one day Hasbrolab will release the three of them in a multipack of some sorts rather than one at a time. These beasts deserve a place on my shelf, and hopefully soon that space will become occupied by their deadly forms.

With the success of Jabba's Sail Barge, a new option for toy companies has opened up to make larger, higher priced collectibles that would otherwise remain on the wishlists of collectors everywhere. Now there is hope though that some of these will become projects in the future, and hopefully soon.
