Comparing Mattel's DC Multiverse line to Mcfarlane's part 8

Image
With dozens of more figures coming out every year between new designs, new characters, and updates to classic designs, here is another running down looking at what came before (Mattel's DC offerings on the left side) and comparing them to what modern day has given us (Mcfarlane's DC offerings on the right). So with 10 comparisons to run through, here is my 8th run down of DC action figure's past and present! (Images Source - unless stated otherwise) Captain Atom A very simple design from the comics for toylines to take on, Captain Atom is one of my personal favorite characters in the DC universe and I was thrilled to see an updated version of the character crop up in Mcfarlane's line of 7 inch scale figures. As with the original Mattel figure, Mcfarlane's incorporates a painted on insignia, and both employ a nice metallic look to their figures. Where the Mcfarlane one comes out on top would be articulation advancements of the modern age, along with the inclusion of ...

Top 5 least favorite Mcfarlane DC Multiverse figures of 2023

Image
2023 brought with it lots of great action figures from different companies that I've already gone through in depth in previous posts. 2022 I thought was one of the best years Mcfarlane had with the DC Comics license, though had a few hiccups that I discussed in a previous list. With 2023, I don't think they had any figures that were egregious in quality; however, with as many releases as we got there were definitely some that I was more let down with than others. So this will be my ranking of my top 5 least favorite Mcfarlane DC Multiverse figures of 2023.  (Images Source) Honorable mention: Anti-Monitor Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that we have Anti-Monitor in the line as such an important character in DC's history and he pairs fantastically with so many other Crisis on Infinite Earths figures we've been getting lately. The figure itself too is great with bright colors, all the details of the comics; however, I just wish it was bigger. Even amongst mega-figs it is on...

Top 5 wanted Mattel Jurassic World prehistoric marine reptiles

Image
(Banner Image Source)   (Following Images Source) The introduction of the Mosasaurus into the Jurassic World movies really brought a lot of attention to the prehistoric life forms of ancient Earth; however, Mattel's Jurassic World line has still been slow to really pump out a lot of the different creatures that used to populate the Earth! I can nearly count on one hand how many marine reptiles of olden days Mattel has made, with recent figures like Elasmosaurus and Dakosaurus finally putting us over the count of less than five. The Jurassic World Evolution 2 videogame has featured several prehistoric marine reptiles which I hope means they're at least on Mattel's radar to eventually get to! 5. Shonisaurus The Shonisaurus is the first of five that I will be breaking down in this list, and one that would be very welcome into the line. Its body is vaguely similar to creature types like Kronosaurus; however, differs with its more oval appearance, and the thin, long mouth ahead ...

Top 5 wanted Mattel Jurassic World prehistoric crocodilians

Image
(Banner Image Source)   (Following Images Source) The next branch of prehistoric creatures I will be diving into is the ancient crocodilians, a species which over time look very similar to their prehistoric counterparts, though there were certainly some wild crocodilians back in the day. From the massive Sarcosuchus, to the "boar croc" Kaprosuchus Mattel has been diving steadily into this species line; however, I hope we get plenty more beyond the recently released Gryposuchus, starting with the five on this list! 5. Simosuchus Simosuchus would fit into one of the smaller price point categories for Mattel similar to Postosuchus, and the squat nature of this croc reminds me a lot of present day species. The most defining feature of this ancient crocodilians would have to be the extremely short nature of its skull for which it was named after, and which sets it apart from most crocodilians who have extensive jaws.  4. Fasolasuchus One of the largest crocodilians of ancient time...

Top 5 wanted Mattel Jurassic World Sauropods

Image
(Image Source) The Sauropod class of Dinosaurs are some of the most recognize species types out there, with their long necks an instantly iconic piece of Jurassic history. Mattel's line of Jurassic World figures have been steadily working through some of the more iconic species in this class, with releases spaced apart understandably as each commands a hefty price point and shelf space. Apatosaurus, Mamenchisaurus, Dreadnoughtus, and of course Brachiosaurus are all major species that have appeared in the Jurassic Park film franchise, and are taking up massive real estate on the shelf already. The line has also looked into some smaller dinos from the species as well, with recent additions like Mussaurus and Nigersaurus. As the species roster of the line continues to grow, these are the five next Sauropods I hope to see from Mattel! 5. Diplodicus (Image Source) This is another of the bigger Sauropods whose name is pretty common when talking about the species. Diplodicus was known for...

Top 5 most wanted Jakks Pacific Sonic Badniks vol 2

Image
(Images Source) We have been getting more and more robotic Badniks in Jakks Pacific's line of Sonic figures which is very exciting! Primary characters are great, but getting more of the background designs to fill out the scenes is awesome and we've recently got some Badniks I was eagerly waiting for like the Burrobot, Newtron, and most recently the Caterkiller!! Eggman's army is packed to the brim though with all kinds of robotic enemies, and these are five more I hope to eventually see! 5. Jaws The Chopper is not the most posable of the Badniks that we've gotten so far (not that many are very posable to begin with), but it is such a classic design from the series and another underwater enemy would be the Jaws. With Jakks Pacific steadily working through giving us little playsets themed around different levels, a set themed around the underwater sequences would be the perfect way to get this guy into the line. 4. Roller With complete transparency, I will admit that thes...
