Top 5 most wanted Hasbro Transformers Commander Class figures
The Commander Class in Hasbro's Transformers line has been one of the coolest scale prices in recent years, being introduced in the first year of the War for Cybertron line with a fantastic rendition of G1 Jetfire, followed by a perfect Sky Linx, and from then for a while it has mostly been a way to really flesh out the designs of characters who come with big trailers. Rodimus Prime is probably one of the best Transformers figure ever made, Motormaster rounded out the Stunticons well, Armada Optimus is literally one of my favorite figures to ever be made, and the upcoming Magmatron is a welcome return to plain old bigger bots in the scale line; not to mention that he looks epic! Studio Series has also finally jumped into the Commander Class game as well, with Ultra Magnus putting itself on par with the Masterpiece figure! Getting an outlet for these bigger or more complex characters to be fleshed out between the Leader and Titan classes has garnered some of the best Transformer figures to come out within a given year. With Magmatron showing that pretty much anything is on the table, these are my top 5 most wanted Commander Class figures from Hasbro's Transformers line!
5. Rampage
It may be possible to do Rampage in a Leader class price point similar to Tigerhawk and Transmetal 2 Megatron, but I recall him being a very big bot, hulking over the other characters in the series and that leads me to believe that a giant Beast Wars crab would be a great pick for a Commander Class one year! G1 has pretty much dominated the Commander Class price point aside from these past two years, and I hope they continue to branch out into other universes for characters such as this one.4. Sixshot
I know I just spoke about the Commander Class looking beyond G1; however, there are still some prime characters in the original series that would be ripe for this price point. Sixshot has minimal screentime in the final season of the show, but is easily one of the most stand out of the dozens of characters introduced by the end. Touting SIX different transformations, the Commander Class price point could give him the upgraded piece count and complexity to achieve all of these modes without any compromise. Beyond that, he is also a lofty Decepticon, standing clear above Cyclonus who is one of the largest Voyager class figures to date!3. Lugnut
Getting out of G1 for a moment, the Animated universe has been introduced proper into the Legacy line with a few of the Autobots already checked off for this new generation of figures. While I wish that the toys we're getting skewed a bit closer to show-faithful representation, I can't deny that Lugnut will pretty much look awesome in any style and design that they adapt him into (As seen with the live-action film inspired figure released years ago). He is easily one of the best characters in the show, won the Transformers fan-vote recently, and would lodge into that Commander Class price point perfectly with his size!2. Astrotrain
For the last time that I'll be talking about G1 on this list it will be for a character that I believe Hasbro has voiced interest in doing in the Commander Class price point at some point in the past. Astrotrain himself never physically appeared larger than his comrades; however, the iconic scenes from the 86' movie involved him acting as a transport for his team which would make him ginormous! While I don't think they'd make him big enough to put other figures inside (Much less a combined Devastator), I think a huge, towering Astrotrain would be a very nice homage to this. The Cyberverse rendition of Astrotrain may be my favorite version for this reason, as he was physically immense to reflect that he transformed into a Decepticon transport shuttle.1. Devcon
From the very first posts on this blog I have been talking about Devcon from Dark of the Moon and how much I want this figure to one day become a reality. We've seen extremely obscure characters from the live action films made into the line before, we're now seeing concept art figures based on designs that never even made it into the movie, so with Studio Series digging deeper and deeper than ever I hope that Devcon's turn in the spotlight will one day come to fruition. I vaguely recall years ago that he had been considered for the Leader class price point only for the team to decide that his piece count would've been too much; however, with the Commander class now a thing hopefully we can one day see this monstrous live action Decepticon receive his first ever figure!
