Top 5 favorite reveals from the 2024 Tamashii Nations events
Honorable Mention: Stardust dragon and Yugi tease
I haven't jumped into the Yu-Gi-Oh line quite yet but the reveals and releases so far have all looked stellar and invoked a lot of nostalgia from my childhood. The event revealed the Stardust Dragon which is from an era of the franchise I am not familiar with but I can't deny how savage this design is and how beautiful the combination of blue and silver is with the purple highlights on the chest and shoulders. Not only this but they teased the first duelist in the line with Yugi himself which is a long time coming given how many duel monsters have been put out.1. Harry Potter
I was of the mind that the Harry Potter line was dead after the Malfoy figure never materialized and the line halted with no new news for a few years at this point. Tamashii is coming back swinging however with two spectacular looking releases in a Triwizard Goblet of Fire Harry and a magnificent looking dark lord of the wizarding world himself! The robes on Voldemort look to fashion themselves splendidly, and the Harry looks to be another slam dunk for the line. I was very pleased with their initial offerings in 2019 with the Sorcerer's Stone figures so I am thrilled to see the line resurrecting itself.2. Legion
Nowhere as popular as the Godzilla franchise, the Gamera side of Toho's universe is one that I really enjoyed especially when it came around to their Heisei trilogy and the vicious monster designs that Gamera was posed against. Revoltech gave us Gyaos years ago, and it wasn't long back that Monster Arts released a beastly Iris figure. Now the trio of Heisei Gamera threats have been rounded out with the unveiling of a gargantuan and immaculate looking Legion! I hesitate to even wonder about what the price for this behemoth would be, but just seeing it on display is dizzying!3. Rengoku and Akaza
With the first three reveals in the Demon Slayer line having been released with no news about the future of the line I was wondering when we would see more, then low and behold we got back to back reveals of the next two figures slated for the line! Rengoku is a massive fan favorite from the series who is no surprise to see enter the line, and neither is Akaza who pairs up perfectly with Rengoku to represent the Mugan Train arc. I'm expecting the Tamashii Nations articulation scheme to allows Akaza plenty of martial arts poses, and while I was hoping for a soft goods cape on Rengoku given Tamashii's recent track record I am still greatly looking forward to this release especially given the impressive nature of Tanjiro's articulation!2. Guts and Casca
I read a recent interview from Tamashii Nations talking about the Berserk line and how they had no plans of slowing down anytime soon which made me very excited to know that the line was in a safe place in terms of its future and continuation. It's continuation is even more exciting now with the next two planned releases in the line being a jump back to the iconic Golden Age arc from Berserk's history, giving us our third Guts in the line, as well as our first and overdue Casca! Both look better than I could have hoped for with their armors both resembling real metal, and great uses of soft goods on both (especially Casca's tower tunic beneath her armor!). While I'm definitely going to pick up these two, this jump to the Golden Age arc has me hoping for more characters and designs from this era like Judea, Pippin, and Wyald!1. Marshall D Teach, Romance Dawn Sanji and Usopp
So many lines had lots of great reveals (except Naruto, unfortunately), but One Piece certainly made headlines with four total reveals! I am not as stoked about the Egghead Luffy simply because I haven't made it to that arc yet, and it is yet another start to a Straw Hat crew iteration, but the three other reveals that we were granted blew me away. I know there isn't much rhyme or reason to where they go with the One Piece line to begin with but Blackbeard was certainly not one I was anticipating and he looks outstanding with his wacky proportions, immense size, and fitting use of soft goods cloak. Then the reveal that garnered an audible gasp from me was the duel unveiling of both Usopp and Sanji from the East Blue saga to conclude the five-person line up of the original Straw Hat crew! Usopp is especially welcome as he was beginning to become a glaring omission in the line's line up. With the core five of the East Blue crew now concluded I'd love some villains from that era such as Arlong!
