Top 5 most wanted Transformers Studio Series Autobots vol 4
Tagging along from my recent post talking about my latest most wanted Studio Series Decepticon figures I am now going to delve into the Autobot side of things. Hasbro's Transformers line has been running for several years now with dozens upon dozens of characters and designs under its belt and frankly putting together these lists is becoming more like lists of what characters are remaining to be made at this point! With each new movie release the list grows though, and recent additions like the War for Cybertron videogame as a source of figures means that Studio Series won't be losing steam anytime soon. With my previous big wants like G1 Brawn, Que, and Crosshairs finally brought to the line these next slots are where my sights are set next!
Honorable mention: Windcharger and Ramhorn
The G1 side of Studio Series is very nearly coming to a close as almost every character seen in that film has either been released in Studio Series proper or given accompanying G1 accurate releases in the main Generations line (though we have begun seeing some like Springer and Galvatron make their way into Studio Series). Squeezing some G1 into this list will be where I mention Windcharger and Ramhorn. Windcharger has never been at the top of my favorite mini-bot lists; however, he is one of the last few that we need to round out that sub-team (and inevitably allow Hasbro to create a dead Wheeljack and Windcharger two-pack similar to their recent dead Autobot sets). Ramhorn similarly is the last of Blaster's four cassettes from the movie needed to close out that crew. With Core class seemingly MIA for next year it remains to be seen how Ramhorn can come to the line, but I'm banking on him releasing with another character (perhaps a multi-pack that includes Soundwave's minions like Ratbat who has yet to be seen in Studio Series and is due for a rerelease).5. Daytrader
Making his way in at number 5 is a character with tragically not a lot of screentime. Boasting a hefty and unique robot design, Steve Buscemi's Daytrader was a lot of fun when he appeared in The Last Knight and is a character from that film I really wouldn't mind getting an action figure of at some point. To this point he has had absolutely zero products of any kind which is surprising for a franchise that is all about making toys, and with all of the other films nearly sapped for figures the possibility of a Daytrader one day seems to be growing.4. Evasion mode Optimus
With the Knight form of Optimus making its Studio Series debut the next step in Optimus representation is obviously the Evasion mode which I remember making waves in the fan community when it debuted in Age of Extinction. Though it didn't last the whole movie it gave fans a decent blend of the Bayverse and G1 to tide them over until the Bumblebee movie released. Optimus Prime is always going to be a constant in the Transformers lines, and I'm honestly surprised we haven't gotten this version yet.3. Mudflap and Skids
I know it was a joke before that Hasbro was avoiding these characters because of how controversial they were but at this point I'm beginning to think that might be the case. They are fast becoming the most glaring omissions in the Bayverse line up so far, especially with Hatchet and Que finally checked off in the line. As controversial as these two may have been there is no doubt that they made for two of the most memorable characters in the franchise with a good deal of screentime and dialogue compared to other bots. At this point I would settle for either design of these two to be brought to Studio Series, though the ice cream truck mode has always been a favorite.2. WFC Jetfire
Thus far none of the aerial based Autobots from War for Cybertron have been touched upon quite yet, and I'm hoping that changes soon because it was quite the fun level to play as the three of them and equally epic as it was the first time we were introduced to Trypticon! Jetfire was the most prominent of the three in the game, and my personal favorite with his great design and unique wing placement when compared to most jet formers whose wings uniformly jet outward.1. WFC Warpath
The primary cast of Autobots from the game is pretty much rounded out now that we have Optimus, Bee, Ironhide, and Ratchet, along with the slick and cool Sideswipe, and so the stage is set for the loudest and most outspoken of the Autobots to join the line next! Warpath always makes for an awesome design in Transformers media, always one of the bulkiest Autobots thanks to his military alt-mode, and the alien design for his tank only lends itself to an even cooler design for this bot thanks to the triangular tank barrel!
