Top 5 most wanted Transformers Generation 2 figures

It feels like Transformers Generation 2 has been getting a love of deserved love lately from the War for Cybertron toyline as well as most recently in the Legacy line. I'm all for it, as the original 12 issue Generation 2 comic was an era of Transformers I didn't mind one bit! The toyline had a lot of really interesting characters and repaints as well that the modern toylines have been taking advantage of from Sideswipe to the Seekers Ramjet and Sandstorm, with of course Megatron getting his camo repaint. Leadfoot has been G2's most recent stamp in the modern collecting world, but by far the Legacy Laser Optimus Prime and Jhiaxus reign supreme when it comes to G2 figures and are such fantastic, faithful takes on the characters. From characters from the comic to characters from the toyline, I hope G2 continues to be revisited by Hasbro, in particular with these 5 most wanted!

Honorable mentions:
Starting off with some honorable mention will be two sets of combiner teams from the comic/toyline. The Stunticons are a big project being undertaken by Hasbro right now in Legacy to give the team proper animation accurate figures, and I'd be remiss if I don't think Hasbro may one day want to reuse the molds and give us their G2 repaints like they did once before during the Combiner Wars era. At least Breakdown would be a neat callback to the fact that G2 Breakdown was the only G2 Stunticon to ever see release. Along with the Stunticons, I'd love to see the G2 Protectobots! Hot Spot's role in the comic was ultimately tragic with his self destruction, and just like the Stunticons Hasbro could double dip with these guys giving us their animation/comic accurate paintjobs along with the G2 toyline redecos.

5. Jazz
This would be another easy repaint for the line and with more and more G2 seemingly on the way all the time I'd be surprised to not see this sooner rather than later; Hasbro is already reusing the mold for other figures such as Jackpot! I like the aesthetic of his racing logos in his G2 depiction, and with so many G2 villains on the shelf already we're needing more Autobots to balance things out!

4. Manta Ray
The count of boat Transformers is exceedingly small, and that alone would make Manta Ray a worthy addition to the current toylines! Along with that fact, his role in the comic was one of the more interesting as well when it came to a lot of the newer characters introduced, especially the more tertiary ones. As part of Megatron's new Decepticons, Manta Ray took to working with the Autobots more than the rest of his compatriots, really helping to illustrate a possibility of peace between the two factions.

3. Deluge and Drench

I don't know that temperature sensitive color changing plastic is something the current Transformers team over at Hasbro would take on, but regardless it would be great to get either Drench or Deluge back into the line! Both have a really sleek, oblong vehicle mode that would be quite unique when compared to the rest of the alt modes coming out recently, and in Deluge's case an updated version of his second toy could easily be obtained by reusing the Mirage mold.

2. Hooligan and Spacecase
Hooligan's wild color scheme alone lands him a solid spot on this list. I love the vibrant, orange print with the cheetah stripes. Spacecase's is on the eye catching side as well with the checkered blue and black chest against a white and red body! Both share the same body type, meaning making one would allow an easy reuse of the mold to make the other, along with any other jets who share their molding. But I would just love to see paintjobs like what these two have brought into the modern lines!

1. Starscream and Blackout

Speaking of jets, I'm right there with just about every Transformers collector in being a sucker for Seeker repaints! It feels like we're living in the golden age of them right about now, and we've even been carving a nice hole in the G2 Seeker collection! Starscream in the comics had no discernable design differences to his animation counterpart (aside of course from when he became a huge battle station) but his toy featured some fun new paintwork on the wing span that would allow Hasbro to get another use out of the Starscream mold. Blackout is a G2 figure that actually never ended up making it to release; however, the same situation was made for G2 Sandstorm (who was possibly meant to be his wavemate) and with Sandstorm released by Hasbro it gives hope that this sleek, pitch black Seeker coloration could one day be produced!
