Top 5 most wanted Jokers in Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line vol 3
One of DC's most iconic and popular villains of all time, the Joker has gotten plenty of love from the Mcfarlane line that reflects a lot of the villain's costumes across the DC multiverse! Since my last list we've gotten a few more figures, including all three of the Three Jokers, the Dark Knight Returns, and while it wasn't the version that I wanted we still did get a New 52 Death of the Family Joker.
If we're going to keep talking about iconic designs for the Joker it will be pretty hard not to bring up his look from the Killing Joke in which he visited Gordon's apartment wearing a Hawaiian shirt, then shot and crippled Barbara. It remains as one of the biggest moments in DC's history, and would be a figure of the Joker unlike any other in the line so far.
I'm still waiting for Mcfarlane to start going back and giving us figures from movies that aren't currently coming out, and whenever they start to do that I think The Dark Knight and Joker are two great movies in DC's pantheon to revisit! Mcfarlane hasn't been shy about saying that he likes the Joker movie because it has helped get his Spawn film off the ground with an R rating, while Heath Ledger has become synonymous when discussing Joker these days. I wouldn't mind Jared Leto's version of the character either, especially his Knightmare design from Zach Snyder's Justice League.
I recently picked up the Injustice 2 Reverse Flash and Green Arrow figures which I'm really liking, and I can't wait for the Injustice display to continue to grow as Mcfarlane, hopefully, continues to give us characters and designs based on the hit game series! Joker in particular is a design that really stood out for how different it is from the usual Joker designs we see, such as his suited Mortal Kombat appearance! The open trench coat and shirtless design is very reminiscent of his Suicide Squad (2016) design, and would stand out for sure against the other Jokers we've amassed thus far.
I love that Mcfarlane has been mining the Arkham games for more figures, many of which are welcome updates to DC Direct's offerings which looked fantastic but many times lacked articulation. Joker in particular has gotten two figures already based off the game series, and I hope it isn't too long until his third big look from the series is covered. I was a big fan of Arkham Origins and seeing Batman's first interactions with the Joker, and getting this Joker could even prompt Mcfarlane to finally give us the Arkham Origins Batman!
With how truly scary and unsettling Joker was delivered during the New 52, I hope the Death of the Family suited version does well even to get Mcfarlane to give us his other New 52 designs! Mattel knew to open their DC Multiverse relaunch with Endgame's suited version of the Joker which was another great look for the character, the black and white suit contrasting well against his pale skin and green mohawk. My absolute favorite look for the character came from Death of the Family though, the coveralls he wore for most of the storyline which really helped tie together the creepy demeanor and atmosphere the character brought with him.
