Top 10 favorite Mcfarlane DC Multiverse figures of 2022

Putting out more figures than both of the previous two years combined, Mcfarlane has concluded their junior year with the DC comics license, and I am purely loving the number of figures we're getting, the diversity in character selections, and the consistently great unique molds that the line puts out! There were so many impressive figures this year that I could not restrict my ranking to just 5 spots, so this will be my top 10 favorite figures from Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line of 2022! And with a line up like this I can only imagine what 2023 will bring us!

Honorable Mentions: Black Lanterns and Gorilla Grodd (Page Punchers)Starting off the list are a couple of honorable mentions. The Blackest Night wave of figures is by far one of my favorite set of figures to come from Mcfarlane at this point; however, I did not want to try and fit them all into the 10-slot list. The zombified Black Lantern sculpts are fantastic, and posing Batman, Superman, and Deathstorm, along with their leader, Nekron, never gets old! Another honorable mention will be the Page Punchers mega fig Grodd. I absolutely love the sculpting on this figure, and the paint on the gorilla portions of the sculpt are fantastic...the armor is another question. The orange is harshly bright, obviously toy-like, while overall gold would have been a much better look instead of only portions of the armor being gold.

10. Aquaman and Ocean Master

Starting off the list is a mold I initially did not pick up but was definitely happy when I finally got around to it! Aquaman himself is a ton of fun to pose, and the sculpted scales on his torso elevate the presence of the figure greatly. The trident will always be a unique weapon to maneuver as well, making Aquaman a simple design but a very effective figure! Sharing the general mold is Ocean Master who I like even better thanks to the overall colors, more menacing trident, and the sick head sculpt that ranks among my favorite in the entire line!

9. World at War Superman
Coming in next is the Future State Clark Kent, sculpted in gladiator garb from his time on warworld. While the skin tones can sometimes not exactly match from each piece, it overall comes together for a great looking figure who perfectly captures what we see in the comics. The weathering on the shield makes it look extremely lifelike, and the headsculpt certainly carries across the more battle hardened look the figure presents.

8. Joker Titan
One of the mega figures who take the title of "mega fig" and run is by far the Arkham Titan Joker. This figure is massive and towers over nearly all others in the line! While some details are missing such as the exposed rib bones, the essence of the figure is still very present and details like the ripped pants and gnarly skin are captured quite well. Titan Joker with his size and appearance is a figure that for sure dominates the display.

7. Injustice 2 Reverse Flash
Another videogame character and design would be Injustice 2's Reverse Flash, a figure I sorely wanted but wasn't sure how likely it was I'd get it since he isn't a unique playable character in the game and simply a skin of Flash. We got him though, and I love it! A lot of people mistakenly believe this figure to be a repaint of the Injustice 2 Flash; however, he is a completely unique sculpt and while it can be difficult to get him into a convincing running pose, he brings along all of the great details from the game. I love the silver armor plating throughout, along with the red lines adjourning his outfit.

6. Dark Detective
Jumping back into the Future State figures, Dark Detective's Batman was immediately a favorite of mine when I got him out of the package. The details and sculpting work are all there with the makeshift armor, windswept dirty trench coat, and the awesome head sculpt! He easily encompasses the utilitarian look we see in the comics, packaged together as a great and posable action figure!

5. Parallax
A surprise reveal when found in a Walmart before being revealed online is the classic character of Parallax! I really love this figure, and aside from the miscolored hair (which should be brown) it is exactly Hal Jordan from that iconic turn of his character into one of DC's greatest villains. Fittingly he has no power ring, instead utilizing energy himself, and the armor matches well to the comics. One of my favorite parts about this figure is the fact that we got it at all, being such an iconic but non-modern design, and with how many classic figures we got this year I'm hoping for plenty more going forward!

4. Dark Knight Returns Batman
This version of Batman came out in the same wave as the Dark Detective figure, and I had a strong feeling then that both would be included on my end of the year list. I was right! The Dark Knight Returns Batman is one of the best Batman figures in the line so far, capturing the stout, burly look for the Dark Knight from the iconic storyline. The fat bat symbol, the spot on head sculpt, and the wrinkles throughout the costume sculpt come together for easily one of the best releases in the line so far.

3. General Zod
A character I was very happy to add to the display was the Superman villain General Zod! He has the largest assortment of alternate hands to come with a figure so far, even if they're on the smaller side, and I love the sculpt of his armor and cape. He has been one of my favorite villains from the Rebirth era of Superman comics, so getting Zod in the line was fantastic, and I'm very happy with the overall sculpt of his armor which largely does not get in the way of articulation.

2. Speeding Bullets Batman
Now this was a Batman figure I was not expecting to be made in the line, at least not anytime soon. Speeding Bullets Superman/Batman is one of my favorite sculpts in the line, it looks great with very natural proportions. The sculpt is overall simple but very effective, carrying across the chest emblem and assorted linework. The rumpled cape sculpt looks heavy which adds to its realism, and the articulation schemes allows for one of the most posable Batman figures in the line so far!

If the picture above doesn't convince you that this is one of the best figures of the year, then I don't know what else I can say. Owlman from the Infinite Frontier era is a great figure with a fantastic sculpt that is easy to get into a lot of epic poses. His plated cape is one of my favorite cape sculpts in the line to date, and every facet of his armor works out for optimum articulation and style. Just like a lot of the other figures on this list, Owlman has what I consider to be one of the best headsculpts the line has put out to date. The slight expression on his face along with the beady eyes of his helmet come together as a perfect representation of one of my all time favorite comic book villains.
