Top 5 favorite Mattel Jurassic Park/World figures of 2022

I've been a huge fans of prehistoric creatures since I was born, especially dinosaurs, and Mattel's Jurassic Park/World lines have really dragged me in as of 2022 with the introduction of their Hammond Collection line! A reboot of their Amber Collection line that brings ALL dinosaurs into super articulated and detailed form at a 3.75inch scale that is much more cost effective and space effective. We've no doubt gotten some of our best main line dinosaur figures through this route, and with my prehistoric figure collection already exploding with many more on the way for 2023, this is a look back at my top 5 favorite Mattel Jurassic Park/World figures of 2022!

5. Hammond Collection Baryonyx

One of the figure therapods to come out in the Hammond Collection line set an awesome precedent for the kind of articulation and sculpting we would see from the line there on out! It was so easy to get this guy into many epic poses, jaws splayed, the different shades of gray working together to really bring out the detail of the creature's sculpt! It was a solid first offering in what is definitely one of the breakout figure lines of 2022!

4. Hammond Collection Concavenator

One that snuck in at the last minute for 2022 was the Concavenator! This one showed that the Hammond Collection would really be digging deep when it comes to what dinosaurs are possible in the line, with this dino only appearing as a taxidermy sculpture in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The gray and orange colors on this one look fantastic, with the mini sails a unique look, and the addition of wrist articulation on a 20$ therapod a welcome improvement!

3. Dominion Dreadnoughtus

Skewing out of the Hammond Collection for a moment, 2022 also brought us our largest Dinosaur figure to date and it truly is massive when fully set up in the display! The Dreadnoughtus is a gargantuan piece whose shear presence in the collection is an impressive sight, one that makes me feel like I have to step back just to fit it all properly in my field of view! While not super articulated, this is a dino that I'm happy to just have stand there, looming above every other figure I own.

2. Hammond Collection Ceratosaurus

Jumping back into the Hammond Collection brings me to the Ceratosaurus, the second 20$ therapod in the line and one that I think surely takes the second spot as the best in the line! The colors on this one are as well laid as the others in the line, especially with the bright reds and black splotches, with the articulation and sculpt of the figure really bringing out a lot of energy when posing. The headsculpt is a shining point for this figure though, with the horn, overbite teeth, and the jaw articulation working to make a fearsome predator.

1. Hammond Collection T-Rex

Anyone who tries to tell you there's a better figure than this one to have come out for Jurassic Park in 2022 is lying, and this could possibly take the cake for best Jurassic Park figure of all time! The Hammond Collection T-Rex pulls out all the stops in bringing us the definitive version of Rexy from that first film, a super articulated piece of plastic perfection that can pull off near any pose I want from the popular therapod, with extra details to make the figure really stand out. The articulated tongue and the rubbery cheek viscera escalate roaring poses to new levels, not to mention the glass eyes that truly make it feel as though the eyes follow you from every direction! Even in plastic form, Rexy truly is king.
