Top 5 most wanted Super7 Godzilla figures from the Showa era

I've taken a look at my most wanted Heisei and my most wanted Millennium era Godzilla figures when it comes to Super7's line of figures, and now I'm looking back at where it all began with the Showa era! Super7 has stated that for their Ultimates! line of figures they're starting later in the timeline and moving backwards, so it still may be some time before we see Showa in the line (Millennium still hasn't been touched upon), but the world is full of surprises, and there are plenty of iconic creatures from the original Godzilla era that would look great in the line! So with wave 2 hitting now, meaning wave 5 is up for reveal soon, these are my top 5 most wanted Godzilla Ultimates! figures from the Showa era!

5. Godzilla

The Showa era was where it all started for Godzilla, and the classic designs for the big lizard would look great in Super7's line! As the title character of the franchise there's no doubt that we will be getting lots more of this character and as soon as they start touching upon the Showa era in the line it is an absolute guarantee we'll get that very first iconic design. Beyond that, Godzilla's design changed a few times through the decades, some looking goofier than others, but all would be welcome from Son of Godzilla to Destroy all Monsters!

4. Hedorah

One of the most maligned movies in the franchise has one of my favorite creatures from the series. Hedorah is a living slob of waste, melting down everything around it as it rampaged through cities. Going through multiple phases of evolution, I'd love for its eventual release to include at least a couple of these alternate forms, though its humanoid form is obviously the one we need to have nailed most!

3. MechaGodzilla

One of the most popular Godzilla villains of all time is easily MechaGodzilla, who got not one but two films by the end of the Showa era. The Heisei era reimagined this big mech as a hero, and we've already gotten that awesome version of the character in wave 2 of the line. While I wouldn't want too many MechaGodzillas coming out at once, it will have been three waves by the time wave 5 is revealed, and I think that if they dive into the Showa era it will be plenty enough time for a new MechaGodzilla!

2. Megalon

Another of my favorite creatures coming from one of the most made fun of movies in the franchise, Megalon faced off against Godzilla while he was performing flying kicks and doing handshakes with his partner Jet Jaguar. Godzilla vs Megalon is one of the epitomes of silly in the Godzilla franchise, which characterized a lot of the later Showa era films. With its giant insectoid form, drill arms, and napalm breath the design of this beast won me over as a kid, and a Super7 wave of Megalon and Jet Jaguar would be a perfect pairing!

1. Gigan

There's no me talking about my favorite creatures from the Showa era without mentioning Gigan. He lived rent free in my mind growing up as one of the all time coolest monsters that Godzilla ever faced! The giant scythes on his arms, the fins on his back, the beak, the cyclops eye, he was so unique and I can't believe it took until the final film in the Millennium era for him to be reintroduced into the franchise! I hope the line goes long enough for us to get both eras of Gigan checked off, though I'll always be partial to the yellow and green original!
