The recent tease at Jump Festa that we will be getting new Akatsuki action figures in the revived Naruto S.H.Figuarts line has me extremely excited! This group of characters are some of the absolute coolest antagonists that the series touted, and since the line has restarted there have been several that I've been hoping to add into the display sooner rather than later! We don't yet know who the first member of this legendary team will be to be added into the line, though we do know that they will be utilizing fabric cloaks when they come! With 2023 about to leave us in the rearview, and 2024 coming upon us, I've got my thoughts and projections about what we'll see in the widely varied DC Multiverse line from Mcfarlane. This year brought a lot of very cool focuses and sets such as Flashpoint, waves based on live action Batman films from years past, and surprises like Black Lightning, Animal Man, and Waverider! There will always be curveball figure releases that I can't see coming, but based on gut intuition and what seems to be trends for the line, these are the top 5 things I expect to see released by Mcfarlane for their DC Comics line in 2024! Mcfarlane did not put out as many Build-a-Figure waves as he did last year, but the ones that we got this year still greatly expanded our roster of characters in the line and really helped fill out some specific displays from the Titans to the live action film universes! With four waves of figures and four Build-a-Figures in total coming from the main DC Multiverse toyline this year, this'll be my list ranking from bottom to top my favorite Build-a-Figures from Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse for 2023! 4. Mr. Freeze (Batman and Robin) (Image Source) Starting off the list will be Arnold's Mr. Freeze from Batman and Robin, undoubtedly the main surprising wave of figures to come from Mcfarlane this year! While I think it is delightfully awesome that we now have this iconic film depiction in action figure form from Mcfarlane, I think the overall presentation just doesn't hit as hard as the other figures on this list. Mcfarlane continued his DC Multiverse line for a fourth year, extending his initial contract past the original three year agreement he had made with DC Comics. I'm more than happy for this to continue, and I hope it does for the foreseeable future because I've loved to finally have a line of super articulated DC Comics action figures that fit modern day articulation and sculpting standards! While I still think that 2022 was overall the best year for the line so far, and I found 2023 to be too common when it came to repaints, there were still so many cool action figures to come out for the DC Comics universe, and in this list I'll be counting down my top 10 of 2023! It reuses the Speeding Bullets Superman mold which is one of the best in the line, making Black Lightning very fun to pose around. A line that truly captured my attention this year was the G.I. Joe Classified line which put out more releases than ever, and some of the best figures in the whole line! They may be the best figures coming out from Hasbro overall, period. Range Viper A Walmart exclusive I was happy to be able to snag, the Range Viper is an epic looking Cobra unit that pairs up well with the Outback released for the Joe side of things. I love how militaristic Cobra's outdoors specialists are, with all of it coming together with a gnarly looking skull helmet with an exposed brain at the top! 2022 introduced me to one of my new favorite toylines out there, being the Jazwares Micro Galaxy Squadron figures! A roughly in-scale toyline of Star Wars vehicles and ships that captures all the details of these iconic and awesome vehicles from across the Star Wars universe! I was already extremely impressed with the line's first year offerings, but the second year kicked things up a notch with even more vehicles from across the series' timeline, and some of the best ships to be released so far! I had a hard time narrowing down this list, with ships like the Snowspeeder, Jedi Interceptors, and Tie Bomber all being inched out of the race, and these remaining five are what I'd rank as my top favorite Micro Galaxy Squadron ships of 2023! 5. We certainly got quite a few, especially in representation of new shows, and many of these figures were quite impressive! With 2023 coming to a close I'm once again looking back at the action figure releases we amassed through the year and thinking through what tops the list for me in terms of figure releases. The first line of figures I'm looking at will be the Mattel Jurassic Park/World assortments ranging from their awesome Hammond Collection line to a little bit of their mainline stuff sprinkled in there as well. So with it being a pretty great year for Dinosaur collectors, these are my top 5 favorite Mattel Jurassic Park/World figure releases of 2023!
