Top 5 wanted Hiya Toys Godzilla/Kong figures
While Super7 has been gifting Kaiju fans with a lot of greatness when it comes to the Toho films in the Godzilla universe (still cannot wait to get Destoroyah and Melting Godzilla), it seems that Hiya Toys has picked up the reigns of pumping out the Legendary universe Godzilla/Kong figures to represent that side of the franchise. Hiya recently revealed a Heisei era Godzilla of their own; however, their realm continues to predominantly be the American films and they've put out a lot of great figures already with their own Godzilla and Kong, not to mention the upcoming female Muto, and recently released Skull Devil! With Godzilla x Kong on the horizon, and reveals for that movie already coming through, this list will be my top 5 most wanted Godzilla/Kong figures from Hiya Toys!
Honorable mention: Power glove Kong
Hiya Toys first hit us with pretty standards versions of Kong and Godzilla for the new movie before turning around and revealing the pink spined Godzilla we've seen in the trailers. I'm expecting it wont be long before we see another Kong figure sporting the yellow power glove we've seen throughout the marketing. I'd be shocked if that's a reveal that doesn't happen imminently.
5. Anything from Monarch
I absolutely loved this show and the characters in it, with the storyline involving Shaw, Billy, and Keiko housing possibly my favorite human characters from the entire Godzilla franchise! There were so many cool creatures showcased in the series as well from the Frostvark to the Ion Dragon, all of which I hope eventually get included in the toy line!
4. Shimo
At the moment we haven't even gotten a good look at this creature in the upcoming film proper; however, thanks to other toy outlets and merchandising we know what this mysterious creature will look like and I'm really liking the coloration and overall lizard-like motif of the monster. It is yet to be seen how large of a role it will have in the final film, and what lasting impact it will make on the Godzilla franchise, but at the moment it would at least make for a cool action figure!!
3. Skar King
The primary antagonist from the upcoming film is one I'm sure we'll eventually get down the road with the toyline recently putting out more villains from the franchise like Muto and Skull Devil (though we're still waiting for a Mecha-Godzilla). Another original creation for the villain of the American Godzilla/Kong franchise, the Skar King is looking to be a fierce foe with a bone whip, awesome red fur, and the latest trailer showing him use the whip to slingshot the top of a skyscraper at Kong has me hooked.
2. Mecha-Godzilla
Speaking of Mecha-Godzilla, this is the only final opponent in the Legendary film series so far not to me immortalized in plastic by Hiya Toys. It ranks up there as one of the coolest Mecha-G designs in Godzilla's history, and put up a heck of a cool fight against Godzilla and Kong in the movie! I'd argue that this is currently the most glaring omission in the toyline so far!
1. Muto (male)
Hiya Toys has finally been delving into the 2014 Godzilla film which remains my favorite film of the Legendary series. The female Muto looks awesome, and the 2014 Godzilla figure is a welcome variation. The only beast left from that original film now would be the male Muto of which we were first introduced in the movie and fought Godzilla first before his female counterpart was later introduced. Running smaller than the other creatures in the line so far, the male Muto makes up for it by having a mighty wingspan, and will fit in right alongside other flying creatures Hiya has designed so far like Rodan and Mothra. I've been wanting legit Muto action figures since 2014, and Hiya is finally delivering!
