Ranking the episodes of Star Wars: Visions
There sadly wasn't a lot of fanfare building up to Star Wars: Visions which I feel like was a big miss by the franchise because some of the stories we got from this ambitious new show were definitely outstanding and rivalled some of the larger movies and tv shows in my opinion! I hope that we get a season 2, and further exploration of these characters going forward (which we're already getting in the form of a book about the Ronan). Looking back on season 1 there were highs and lows, and in this list I'll be ranking what I thought of each episode, as different as they were, in my personal ranking of worst to best!

I get the cute, sweet feeling that this episode was going for but in the end for me it came across as incredibly silly, unremarkable, and a bit contrived. The highly serious nature of the opening in which the primary character is shown to be a survivor of Order 66 has little informing of what comes next, with a cringy looking punk Hutt teaming with him to put on a show for Jabba the Hutt. For an episode all about music as well, it did not fit the Star Wars aesthetic and leaves nothing remarkable for the viewers to appreciate.
This episode wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination! In fact I really quite enjoyed it, I thought it was fun, endearing, and an emotional show of family as the adopted child faced off against the blood child. The action was thrilling, the animation was splendid, but it just didn't leave a lasting impression.
Just like the episode discussed before this one there is absolutely nothing wrong with this episode, I really liked it in terms of execution, animation, and the events that transpired but it just didn't capture me and keep me thinking about it afterwards. There is definite history behind the primary protagonist which lends her character to intrigue, and I loved the spiritual tones of the story and the planet that they inhabited; this episode was just another that I had fun with and quickly forgot.
While I wasn't a huge fan of the animation, I did enjoy this episode quite a bit and it is one of the more ambitious episodes of the series! The elderly duo of guides were entertaining, the banter between the characters enjoyable, and the ultimate decision of the primary character to join the dark side in the end was very surprising and made for a great twist to the story.
This episode was undeniably adorable and filled with so much energy, possibly more energy than I could handle, but it was just a delight to watch! TO-B1 was endearing, positive, and delved into newer concepts like robotic organisms and synthetics possibly having their own connections to the Force! The final fight with the Inquisitor was adrenaline filled and colorful, and the title character's mentor was very wise, rounding out a cast of entertaining characters that made me smile as TO-B1 blasted off into space by the end with his mentor's research.
This episode came early on in the series and helped showcase just how much Jedi vs Sith and Force focused imagery and story we would be getting in the series! I loved the classic dynamic of brother vs sister which played out grandly on the surface of a twin Star Destroyer! The sister's lightsabers and transformation were insane and lended to an incredible fight which saw the brother ultimately wield the largest lightsaber to certainly been seen in the franchise thus far!
With these last three we will be getting into the episodes that really impressed me, that really had me engaged and realizing the potential of the series to showcase incredible stories! The Ninth Jedi was one of those that with great animation, character design, and story groundwork kept me watching and guessing. Kara was great as the main character, and I will never get over the twist that nearly all of the 'Jedi' who had answered the call were truly Sith in disguise! The exploration of what different lightsaber color meanings was very intriguing as well and has me looking at the characters in the movies and tv shows a bit differently based on what colors their lightsabers were!
The first episode to premiere from the show was the one that I saw the most fans talking about after watching the series, and for good reason as the series hit the ground running with a very fantastic episode (though followed up by the less than desirable Tatooine Rhapsody). With striking black and white animation that lit up for the red blades of the lightsabers and blaster fire, the episode portrayed a harrowing duel between a Sith laying waste to a small village, and a wanderer who turns out to be some kind of Sith hunter! It was a great fight, with enough intrigue that a spinoff book has already been written and released, and the umbrella lightsaber was purely awesome!
Oh boy, this one, this is the one that I will talk about for days and is definitely one of my favorite pieces of Star Wars media! Following a knowledgeable Jedi master and his eager Padawan, they go after a sense of darkness that leads them to one of the creepiest Star Wars villains ever! The Elder is for sure one of my favorite Star Wars antagonists ever, with the hinted history behind the character as this nearly immortal Sith lord! The interactions between the characters were great, and the quiet, suspenseful nature of the entire episode making for a tense, unsettling showdown between Force users. It was one of my favorite viewing experiences for a Star Wars media, and I would love to one day find out more about the mysterious Elder!
