Top 5 wanted Star Wars Micro Galaxy Squadron Tie Fighters
Honorable mention: Tie Silencer and Whisper
Just below my top five is Kylo Ren's Tie fighters from the sequel trilogy. Both look epic in their own right and the extremely elongated wing tips give a striking silhouette to these starfighters. I overall prefer the boxed look of the cockpit of his Silencer from The Last Jedi, but that doesn't take away how awesome the Whisper looks as well not to mention its inclusion in one of the coolest scenes in the sequel trilogy where Rey sliced off a wing mid flight.
5. Tie Bomber
An iconic variant from the original trilogy that I'm sure we'll see sooner rather than later would be the Tie Bomber, a beefy version of the Tie Fighter with two modules between the wings that allows it to carry a payload of bombs to be dropped. I'm expecting a pull away panel to reveal the bombs similar to the Republic Gunship's missile reveal, and it'd help round out the original trilogy ship display even further.
4. Tie Dagger
While I can't say much for the final climax of Rise of Skywalker, I did quite enjoy this new take on the Tie Fighters with triangular wing designs as opposed to the usual hexagonal look. It gives it a sharpened edge, and is just a look I really like.
3. Tie Interceptor
Another design from the original trilogy are the Interceptors, forked winged fighters that added a whole other level of greatness to the original Tie designs. I love the bent look of the wings, and it seems like these could've been the inspiration behind the Tie Fighters Kylo would eventually use for himself.
2. Tie Striker
Appearing in Rogue One, one of if not my favorite Star Wars film which hasn't had any representation in the toyline so far, the Tie Striker's big moment came about the climax of the film where it took part in the battle of Scariff. Most notably shooting out the walkway Jyn was using. The wing design of this Tie is amongst my favorite, more horizontal as opposed to the usual vertical assembly, giving it the look of a sharpened blanket gliding through the sky. The cockpit itself is a bit elongated as well, better honing its look of a sharpened missile.
1. Tie Defender
While the original Tie Fighter design is great, I think that the variants and the more unique version we get are my all time favorites and that definitely holds true for the Tie Defender which looks utterly awesome. It has three sets of bent, forked wings that encircle the hull of the ship giving it a very busy look almost like a smaller, evolved version of the Interceptor. It is definitely my most wanted of the Tie Fighters designs in the Star Wars universe, and hopefully it will not be too long before Jazwares starts to pump out some of the ships on this list.
