Top 5 wanted DC Multiverse figures based on Batman and Robin Eternal
Following up on Batman Eternal was Batman and Robin Eternal, another weekly comic event for the Bat family that I think I enjoyed even more than the first Eternal title! Much shorter than Batman Eternal, allowing for tighter story telling and less divergent plot points, Batman and Robin Eternal saw the Bat family in the absence of Bruce following the Endgame storyline unravelling a decades old secret that Bruce had been tangled within years ago. It did some great character building for a lot of characters in the series, introduced a very shadowy organization with a very compelling mystery behind Batman's prior involvement, not to mention a great plot reveal regarding the history of Bluebird's origin! Despite Mcfarlane's heavy focus on Bat themed characters we're still missing several important ones, a lot of which will appear on this list!
5. Red Hood
For part of the series Jason took on a new design that saw something of a vest look integrated into his overall uniform rather than the typical biker's jacket. It added a lot of diverging color to his otherwise red and black color scheme, and we've even seen something similar used in the recent Gotham Knights videogame which did get a figure which can easily be moved into the comic book display to capture this look. It would be cool though to one day get a truly comic accurate version of one of Red Hood's least talked about designs.
4. Batman (New 52)
All those Batman designs out in the line so far, some of them being some of the most obscure blink and you'll miss it designs from the comics, and we've still not gotten one of Batman's most long lasting design from the last several years! Heavy on the blacks and greys, I was actually a fan of all the line work the New 52 suits had to them, making them look more technical and complicated rather than simple spandex. A whole New 52 Justice League would be my hope for the future to better capture storylines like the Darkseid War, Origin, and Forever Evil!
3. Spoiler and Bluebird
Doubling up on this slot is one of the best duos from this comic series, Stephanie and Harper. While Harper has fallen out of focus for a while, Stephanie has continued to be a major character in the DC universe and a continuously great character at that. At this point she's become Batgirl like in the pre-Flashpoint universe; however, I've become more partial to her Spoiler persona. Bluebird was a character I wasn't entirely engaged with to begin with; however, this comic series changed that for me as the way her origin and emotional through points were incorporated into the story were fantastic and were one of the standpoints story arcs for me!
2. Cassandra Cain
Just like Batman Eternal introducing Stephanie Brown into the New 52 universe, Batman and Robin Eternal brought us our other pre-Flashpoint Batgirl again in the form of Cassandra Cain. I absolutely loved her in Rebirth Detective Comics, and was very excited to go back and read her debut storyline which I was so pleased was great. Her introduction was well worked into the narrative, her push and pull between her dark past and hopeful future played out well, and while she has become Batgirl again in most recent comics I really want a figure of her in her Orphan persona.
1. Dick Grayson (Robin)
Like I mentioned previously, the flashbacks regarding Batman's mysterious involvement with the big bad of the comic series was one of the standout parts of the comic to me. Added to these scenes were the early days of his mentoring of Dick Grayson as Robin which was such a treat to see, since the New 52 jumped straight to Damien without showing what the New 52's version of Dick and the others as Robin were. Seeing Dick's frustration and insecurity trying to live up to what he thought Bruce wanted him to be was good character building, and his Robin uniform design was top notch with the sleeves and pants!
