Top 5 Autobots I want to see in the live action Transformer films
Transformers has announced that they will have their next live action movie releasing in 2022 hopefully, covid allowing, and the gears in my head have already started to think about what Transformers I'd love to see added to the live action universe and adapted for the big screen. While a lot of characters have been translated less than faithfully, such as Galvatron, Hot Rod, and Hound, I've really enjoyed still many of the live action version of the characters and especially the Bumblebee movie shows that the company is taking the property more seriously. So with the future of Transformers looking brighter, here are the top 5 Autobots I hope to see in the live action Transformers films!
One of the most interesting Autobots in terms of contrast to the Decepticon/Autobot usual dividers is Warpath who becomes a more Decepticon-like tank with a penchant for destruction. He would be awesome to see as a heavy hitter in the live action film where most of the good guys are cars and trucks, most of the time unable to take big hits.
A character who I hope translates to the big screen with his personality intact is Red Alert, the paranoid security officer which I think is such a clever paradox! I loved his episode in the original G1 tv show growing up where he grew increasing more and more paranoid throughout, which'd be a really cool subplot to see in a movie!
We recently got an awesome version of Ultra Magnus in the War for Cybertron tv show, as well as several versions in the past decades that envisioned the reluctant soldier many times as an elite leader. I'm not sure which version I'd like to see most when this character makes his eventual jump to the big screen, but either way I'd love for this popular, fan favorite Autobot to finally be fighting alongside Optimus in live action.
2. Springer
Another hugely popular character from the original G1 television show is Springer, introduced in the original 1986 movie like Ultra Magnus, but unlike Ultra Magnus this character has had minimal representation in non G1 material. I have always been a major fan of Springer and his classically heroic attitude, typically shown as the wise cracking soldier who optimistically sees the day through. We almost got him as part of the Revenge of the Fallen cast before he was cut, and I hope he gets another chance soon on the silver screen.
Introduced in the Armada tv show, that was the show I grew up with and this character was my childhood version of Bumblebee or Hot Rod. Hot Shot for me was the fun, ambitious, young Autobot soldier that resonated most with kids, and also got a great deal of development throughout the show's life as well! We watched as this brash Autobot grew and eventually took charge of the Autobots for a time, and I think it would be really great to see this character realized on the big screen like all the others I've mentioned here!
