Top 5 favorite Hasbro Star Wars the Black Series figures of 2020

2020 has been a great year for Star Wars the Black Series from Hasbro. With no movie coming out that the line has to cater to, the line really had a chance to breath and catch up on characters with this lull. We got a great offering for the Prequel saga, while Empire Strikes Back celebrated an anniversary with a slew of new figures, not to mention Return of the Jedi, Clone Wars, and the Mandalorian all getting a great amount of new figures as well! It really is a great time to be a Star Wars collector, and 2021 is looking similarly great with figures like Moff Gideon and Bo Katan just being the start of a great year. However, before we get there I want to spend a post reviewing what I personally think are the best figures to come out this year from Hasbro for their Black Series line!

5. Incinerator trooper
The new mold being used for the Stormtrooper is nothing short of astounding and looks great on the shelf in any pose, and they've already used it a few times but my favorite use of the mold is no doubt the Incinerator trooper from the season 1 finale of the Mandalorian. I loved this trooper on screen with the amount of swagger it possessed when it walked on scene, with Grogu's deflection of its fire one of the highlights of the series. The figure even comes with a stream of fire to peg into the flamethrower, completing an awesome look.

4. Beskar armor Mandalorian
While not being a lot of new molding, the Beskar armored version of Mando still stands out compared to the first use of the mold and I love the silver look that he wears for the predominant part of the series. It is a fantastic figure with great articulation, awesome accessories including his jetpack, and it looks great no matter was poses you put him in! The hard plastic cape tends to get in the way of jetpack poses, but overall it doesn't detract too much from a great figure.

3. Jar Jar
This was for sure a surprise to have come out so early, three months early in fact as Hasbropulse had this figure initially slated for March 2021! But here we are, Hasbro decided to release it super early and I couldn't be more happy, hence it making my top 5 list. The figure is absolutely great, with incredible articulation, a collection of epic accessories (that shield is stand out), and the alien design of the character carries over into a really well done figure that just sticks out on the shelf.

2. Count Dooku
We really started the year off with a bang when it came to releases as we finally got the primary antagonist of the second film, Count Dooku! I had been waiting years for this dark lord to make his way into the line and he for sure did not disappoint, with crisp sculpting and a spot on face sculpt that captures the character perfectly. Not to mention the pristine soft goods cape, or the swooshing effect for the lightsaber that make for one of the best Sith figures the line has put out up to this point!

1. Prequel era Jedi

I can't narrow this down to just one, and I don't want this list to be entirely Jedi so I'm lumping that all into one category. I absolutely love Jedi, and the Jedi of the prequel era especially since all the alien designs are so unique and begging to be made into figure form! We finally got a couple of those wishes granted to us with the outstanding releases of Kit Fisto and Plo Koon! While both are primarily reuses of existing molds, it works to bring these iconic characters into the line. Attack of the Clones Obi Wan and Anakin also reuse existing molds but it works, especially for Obi Wan who is using what I think is one of the best molds of the line. I can't talk about these Jedi though without mentioning the Clone Wars season 7 Ahsoka Tano we got which was such a great figure to get after waiting so long for a Clone Wars era Ahsoka! Here's hoping 2021 has plenty more Jedi to deliver!
