Top 5 most wanted McFarlane DC Multiverse Batman figures vol 2
Batman has for sure been the most plentiful character to be made in Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line by far. Being possibly the most popular DC character of the modern age I'm not surprised to see so many versions of the character made, especially when so much of the modern DC landscape revolves around him in many ways. While I for sure want other characters to get their due at figures as well, we've gotten some pretty outstanding figures based on the many different versions of Bruce Wayne, and I highly doubt that train is going to stop anytime soon. From my previous list I made about my most wanted Batman figures, we've since gotten the Rebirth suit design, Flashpoint, and Batman Beyond just recently! So I'm focusing in on the big Bat again and which versions I'd like to see most in figure form from Mcfarlane!
Honorable mention: The Return of Bruce Wayne
I'm not highly attached to this version of Batman in any meaningful way, though the caveman portion of the Return of Bruce Wayne storyline was for sure my favorite of that series, and I just think that this would be such a cool and unique figure for Mcfarlane to make! It is from more recent comics which is a lot of what the toy company is pulling from for figures, and Bruce Wayne as a caveman wearing the carcass of a giant bat is just an awesome idea for a figure.
Carrying over from the last list is the Red Son version of Batman, who I think has made a big jump in probability with the reveal of the Red Son Superman figure. So the storyline has already been delved into, and Batmans are ripe in the line wherever they can be so Red Son Superman will likely be lonely on the shelf only shortly. I love the design of this soviet inspired Batman from the utility garb to the hat he wears, with his role in the story as a terrorist such a neat take for this elseworlds tale.
The Batman from the Injustice universe is a Batman who has watched his world fall and his greatest fear come to fruition as Superman becomes an evil ruler of Earth. It was such a great situation to see the character confronting, and it only got more enriching in the second game of the series when he and Superman had to team up again despite their history as recent foes. Just like Red Son, the Injustice videogames have been tapped upon by Mcfarlane for figures, and I hope it is just a matter of time until the Batman of this universe fills the Injustice line up of figures.
Probably half or more of all the Batmen we're getting from Mcfarlane are actually evil versions inspired by recent storylines like Death Metal and Dark Knights Metal. I have no problem with this as the designs are awesome and usually these characters in the comics are fun as well (Though the Darkfather was extremely underwhelming); however the two recent ones that I'd love as figures that I have to single out is the Lord version of Batman who Laughs. I love the silver, regal accents that have been added to the character's design. The second is the Mindhunter, the evil Batman/Martian Manhunter amalgamation who is by far my favorite evil take on Batman since the original Dark Knights! Above all of them though, I have to say that the original evil Batman is still my most wanted evil Batman in comic history. Owlman of the Crime Syndicate is proud, conceited, and has an awesome design to go along with it all.
The Arkham videogame universe has surprisingly had a lot of love from the line despite the toyline going for just under a year at this point. We've gotten two versions of Batman already from the games with the Knight and Asylum takes on his costume, though the outfit I want most from this series has got to be the Origins suit! We don't see a lot of costume takes of Batman's early years, and I just love the fact that we can essentially see the padding and the novice in Batman when looking at the design of the suit.
Mcfarlane's line of figures has still yet to really jump into the live action side of things aside from their Arrow figure and two Wonder Woman movie figures. I'm really hoping that changes soon because the movie landscape of DC is one of my favorite parts of the franchise, and there have been some really great Batmen to single out too as deserving of a figure. I would love Ben Affleck's Batman to be given a truly great figure from Mcfarlane after Mattel didn't do the character justice, not to mention Christian Bale's gritty take, and anyone who came before like Michael Keaton. I think it would be even cool to get a figure of Robert Patterson's awesome looking take, though we'll probably have to wait closer to the movie's new 2022 new release for that.
