Top 5 most wanted Transformers Red series G1 figures vol 2
The Red series from Hasbro has been moving along slowly but surely, acting as a nice companion line to everything else they have going on. I see how non-transforming Transformers wouldn't appeal to the wider crowds, but I personally really enjoy having 100% screen accurate versions of these great characters without the necessity of transformation and hiding vehicle parts. As always, G1 is a big focus and we've gotten a ton of fan favorite characters such as Bumblebee, Shockwave, Starscream, and Galvatron from the 1986 movie which ticks off a lot of boxes from my previous most wanted. The most recent wave was revealed to be bringing G1 Thundercracker into the mix, and these are five more characters I hope to get one day!
With Starscream released it was only a matter of time until the other Seekers were repainted to join him, and that has started with Thundercracker upcoming in the near future. That leaves only Skywarp to fill out the original trio, and I doubt it will be much longer until he is painted in with all his black and purple glory. My only hope is that he is given more accessories than Thundercracker, because compared to Starscream it was quite bare.
While I was wanting Bumblebee in the line I was disappointed with how big he was compared to all the others figures, essentially the same size as Optimus Prime and others. That shows that scale is out the window, though the figure itself was quite nice. That leaves me wanting for a Cliffjumper Red series figure. I can look past the scale issues to get a fantastic Cliffjumper figure, one of my favorite G1 Autobots, and if he doesn't include his rocket launcher I will riot.
Every time a figure of Arcee is released it raises questions of if a G1 screen accurate Arcee can ever actually be made due to the impossibility of her design. Well, I'm here to say that with the Red series we can finally get a 100% cartoon faithful Arcee figure because we wouldn't have to worry about it transforming! We could finally have an Arcee that looks like what we want it to look like, with no massive back pack of any kind, whatsoever!
This is the kind of figure I think this line would shine with, a character from the series who did not transform who has a somewhat abstract design! Alpha Trion is one of the most important figures in Transformers lore, and in G1 proved that point with his ties to Optimus' origins amongst other Cybertronian points of history.
We've been getting plenty of Decepticons in the line; however, aside from a humongous Bumblebee Optimus is looking pretty lonely on the shelf and in need of some backpack! Wheeljack is another of my favorite Autobots from the original series, and he has some of the most potential for accessories as he was always tinkering away with different weapons and inventions across the show's run!
