Top 5 most wanted updated Hasbro Transformers Combiner figures
More and more Combiners are returning to the modern day Transformers toylines, not only applying to the miraculous looking G1 Combiners such as the forthcoming Devastator and Superion, but also to smaller scale Combiners such as Commander class Magmatron, and the potential future of the Armada Optimus Prime's combinations. As a gimmick Combiners have always been one of the most popular and enticing features of Transformers, and I can't wait to see what Combining Transformers may be coming in the future to join what has already been revealed. As always, I've got my top five hopes for the future, and I'll lay them out here.
5. Mudflap and Skids
As much controversy as these two characters made after their debut in the second film I am still surprised that all these years later they are absent from the Studio Series line after the amount of screen time they had and the memorable impact they made on fans. While their individual modes throughout most of the film are fun designs, I actually prefer their very unique opening design where they combined into an ice cream truck! It isn't often that we see multiple bots that combine into one singular vehicle, let alone an ice cream truck Transformers!4. Junkheap
Speaking of Transformers that combine into a singular vehicle, Junkheap's presence in the fourth film was extremely short lived and barely noticeable but having three Decepticons that combine into a single garbage truck would be such a unique release in the line and would make for a killer first Bayverse Commander Class figure. Just like Mudflap and Skids' ice cream truck form a garbage truck would be another more unique vehicle choice for the Transformers line, with the only one of recent memory being the Junkion Trashmaster.3. Defensor
G1 Combiners have truly taken off once again. Motormaster was a fantastic return to the combiner concept, and this coming year looks to be delivering two more outstanding Combiner updates with the Constructicons and Superion! That makes two Decepticon teams and one Autobot team, so the next Combiner would make sense to balance out this battle and Defensor is the next big Autobot Combiner from G1. The variety of alternate modes of Hot Spot and the other Protectobots would be a potential boon for the Transformers line as well, giving numerous different molds to re-use down the line.2. Jetfire
One of the lead designers at Hasbro on the Transformers team has already stated how Jetfire from Armada is one of their top characters they want to see in the line, and that rings true for me as well. The Armada updates have been some of the strongest in the Legacy line in terms of other universes' representation, and I think that a modern day Armada Jetfire release would kill it. The Commander class Optimus Prime has the availability of combination with a Jetfire down the line, and that forward thinking has me even more sure and excited about this character being one day updated for the original Jet Power Optimus Prime combination!1. Bruticus
This guy is not only one of the most popular Combiners of all time, but for many people is easily their favorite of all the G1 combiners. That is with good reason, and his episodes in the original G1 show were highly memorable, his overall design and designs of his individual members are easily recognizable, and he is one of the few combiners where individual members of his get their own distinct personalities and highlight episodes in the original series. I would have no surprise if Bruticus is the next combiner to be updated, and he may be already confirmed to be in the works as the recent Age of the Primes reveal event included artwork for what look to be upcoming characters, and Vortex was one of them!
