Top 10 most likely Transformers Studio Series figures vol 4
2021 has felt like a slower year for the Studio Series line; despite the huge release of the 1986 subline early this year things have seemingly slowed down quite a bit. I know there are plans for more figures coming down the line though, and with the release of a brand new live action movie on the horizon for next year we will surely have a big rollout of product for that as well! We've been getting a lot of great products in the line, and from my previous list talking about the most likely Studio Series figures we've now gotten Dino (finally), a Seeker from the Bumblebee movie, Bumblebee based on his Cybertronian design, as well as Galvatron, Rodimus, and more Dinobots based on the 1986 film. I've looked at what's left to do, what could be made as figures, and I've reoriented this list with my new predictions for the top 10 most likely Transformers Studio Series figures vol 4!

When the 10 year anniversary of the Revenge of the Fallen film came and went without a new release for the titular villain I was a bit surprised, though focusing on the Constructicons for the celebration was for sure a momentous event! With the line seemingly heading back to fill out a lot more of those ROTF slots, such as ROTF Bumblebee, as well as the leaked figures of Grindor, Ravage, Jolt, and Sideswipe, we should surely have a new Fallen coming up!
Out of the original trilogy of Bayverse films, Que is one of the last biggest missing characters in the line. He is also significant since his only figure previously was highly limited in terms of release, making him ideal for a new wider release action figure for the market. I really enjoyed his character in the third film, embodying Wheeljack in many ways being the crazed inventor whose inventions didn't always quite work the way they were supposed too. His headsculpt is one I would love to see brought to Studio Series as well!
Bumblebee has always enjoyed a large spotlight in the Studio Series line, and that hasn't stopped as of late. He got his 2007 Camaro mode retooled into the ROTF form recently, and I expect the same will happen for his Dark of the Moon appearance sooner rather than lately to officially finish out his looks from the first three movies. From there I would be surprised if we didn't get either of his looks from Age of Extinction, with his High Octane design being a favorite of mine.
With the release of Cliffjumper it immediately blew the door open for the cast of the Cybertron scene from Bumblebee to be brought to figure form. It is widely recognized as one of the best sequences in the entire film, and the set has always been expanded further with Bumblebee's Cybertronian form as well as Starscream! Fans have since been asking for the rest of the Autobots to be made as well and I believe that Hasbro will jump into these designs soon, being as popular and sought after as they are! Brawn and Wheeljack are for sure two I'm really hoping get made.
I'm shocked that this design hasn't been made into a figure already. As soon as looks at this character came from the trailer for the Bumblebee movie the internet lit up with fans thrilled about the direction the new movie was taking the designs of the characters. Soundwave has major design cues back to his G1 appearance, and would perfectly fit a voyager slot in the line. Starscream makes a nice start for a Decepticon set up from the Cybertron scene; however, Soundwave has been sought after as a figure since that first trailer and should hopefully be produced soon!
While a lot of the upcoming figures in this list will be focused around the 1986 film, I think it is accurate to say that the G1 characters have become a priority in the Studio Series line. They've gotten much more fanfare this year than the Bayverse designs, and I expect them to remain a major portion of the line going forward. Blitzwing's actual role in the movie was very short; however, highly iconic and he is also one of the most popular G1 Decepticons. As the main cast of the original movie and cartoon continued to be filled out, Blitzwing becomes more and more of a missing character in the updated set up.
We've now pretty much completed the roster of heroes from the original 1986 movie that we followed for the brunt of the runtime. The one big one we're missing now is Perceptor who didn't originate from the movie like a lot of other characters, but he still enjoyed a large role as part of Ultra Magnus' crew after the escape from Autobot City. While the previous most recent figure of him wasn't bad, fans have been hoping for a new updated version that transforms into a microscope.
Another character who enjoyed a notable role in the original 1986 movie was Blaster, though after the battle of Autobot City he sat out the rest of the story. His distress signals and subsequent battle with Soundwave's minions is one of the most enjoyable and remembered portion of the opening battle. We've had Soundwave in the line for quite a time at this point, and it is about time that Blaster was produced as well to oppose him.
Slug looks fantastic, just like Grimlock, and together they look phenomenal. Hasbro's choice to finally product the Dinobots in leader class scale has turned out so far to be the perfect decision, and with the release of two of the team, Hasbro has not committed to putting out the whole team. I can only imagine how fantastic the group will be once fully assembled, and I doubt Hasbro will make us wait long to set up this group on the shelf.
With the announcement of a new movie upcoming, this slot of course went to Rise of the Beasts which will most likely and definitely receive new figures next year to celebrate its release! While we haven't gotten looks at the designs of the characters yet, the descriptions we've gotten have sounded very awesome. Scourge in particular sounds like he will make an incredible action figure, along with Bumblebee with a more off-road alt mode, not to mention the live action Predacons and Maximals! I cannot wait to see what the next step in the Transformers franchise looks like, and what the figures we'll get first will be!
