Top 5 most wanted Mattel Masters of the Universe Masterverse figures vol 3
Despite the split responses it got from fans, I was a huge fan of the Masters of the Universe Revelations show that aired on Netflix, and cannot wait for the upcoming Revolution follow up! It brought He-Man into the modern era of entertainment for more mature audiences, and with it was concurrently launched one of the best He-Man lines in my collecting experience! Mattel's Masterverse line has been an absolute delight, and the line has only soared higher and higher with it now encompassing all He-Man related media which has allowed tons of characters and designs from outside the Revelations series to be updated in figure form! Revelations still remains my wheelhouse though when it comes to my most wanted figures, and with a few of my most wanted now a reality such as Roboto, Orko, and the Sorceress, this is my updated list of top 5 most wanted Masters of the Universe figures from Mattel's Masterverse line!
We got the present day Merman in the line which was the character's primary look in the series, and while I did like the look we got for him, my preferred would have been the armored look we witnessed in the show's flashbacks! At this point I'm expecting the next Merman we get will likely be a New Eternia version which itself will likely satiate my desire for an armored Merman.
This character's role in the story become quite a bit more sizable in the show's second half, hitting some big emotional beats when it came to his relationship with his son, Adam, and then getting to take on some action oriented roles as well during that final battle! We've so many characters already that use swords and axes, another who uses guns would shake things up quite a bit. Not to mention that a figure of this character would pair well with the Savage He-Man we got!
One of my favorite aspects of the Revelations shows was taking Orko and turning him into one of the emotional centerpoints of the series! I loved him, and was terrified when it seemed as though he died taking down Scareglow. The character made a triumphant return during the final battle though, sporting a fancy new robe and a powerful set of magic skills!
Another character who got a big boost during the show's finale was Teela who took on the mantle of Sorceress from her mother, albeit in a whole new way as she could leave Castle Grayskull, and went up against Evil-Lyn in an epic showdown! We've gotten two versions of Teela already in the line with the present day version and first episode version both checked off the list, and one of her coolest designs would complete the Teela trinity!
Taking the top two spots are actually more of the background characters from the series; however, I honestly think a lot of them had some of the coolest designs! The line has already displayed that it is looking into those characters as well, giving us a few like Spikor and Fisto! On the heroic side of things we definitely need Clamp Champ to go along with Fisto! Especially after their tragic deaths. And while a specific character wasn't pinpointed as "Buzz-Off" in the finale there were plenty of flying soldiers who bore the same design!
Them swinging over to the villain side of things, these are both some monstrous characters who would look outstanding in the line! I would happily take either design of Whiplash they want to go with, whether it be his more classic look in the flashback or the present day Techno-cult variant; just so long as he has a massive articulated tail! Clawful is one that I've wanted since the first episode in the series, his design first being used as a disguise for Evil-Lyn to infiltrate Castle Grayskull before the character more properly appeared in the series' second half.
