The Flash S06 EP06 spoiler review
Flash returned from it short break with a really fun episode that rifted on the old James Bond movies as well as highlighting the character of Ralph who I feel as been very underused as of late. So with Crisis looming ever closer, here is my review of Flash 6th episode in their season 6 run, "License to Elongate."

It begins with Nash wells telling the team that he believes that the Monitor is hiding behind the wall in the sewer he has been trying to mine out, though Barry is unable to phase through due to the antivibrational properties of the area. Nash resigns to figure out how to continue his dig while the others go about their own adventures, and he lands on the character of Allegra who was introduced in the Ultraviolet episode before beginning to work for Iris. Looking to use her powers of UV radiation, Nash gets her to blast the wall and pinpoint which areas he shouldn't hit in order to avoid an explosive reaction (as well as what looked like a potential message yet to be revealed). Feeling better about her powers, Allegra leaves after Nash informed her about multiverse, the Monitor, and Barry's secret identity. Nash also tells her that she reminds him of someone, then emotionally looks back on her before leaving. This was a smaller part of the episode but I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not totally into Allegra's character right now, she appears very sparingly with limited interactions with the team at this point, and also reacted like she was being kept out of the loop when she found out that her boss' husband was the Flash. Why would that be information she was invited to know? Just because she works for Iris? Nash's revelation that he wants to kill Monitor definitely feels like more set up for him becoming the Pariah character from the comics, and the hint that there is some deeper depth to him after his quiet moment looking at Allegra later in the episode was definitely interesting for his character. A daughter on his earth? A former adventure partner? So far this Wells is different enough from the others for him not to feel like a gimmick character.
In a very exciting moment for me, Chester finished cooking in his chamber and came out to be in the episode! I loved this character's brief moments in the first episode, and was very disappointed that he was pushed ot the side for the next several but he is finally back and I love the energy coming off of him! He's excited about science, powers, and while it seems like his may have faded off, his genius intellect warrants him to stay on the show which it looks like it may! Cecile and Killer Frost were wrapped in his story, which involved Cecile trying to help Chester ask out the girl he liked which was great on the part of watching Chester, but Cecile's character hasn't made enough of an impact on me to really care about her own self journeys that the show is trying to give us. Chester did not end up with the girl but that was okay with him, while Cecile realized that she was worried about her own future and abilities to be a metahuman DA, which was a good filler arc for her but I'm glad to move past it. And while I'm thrilled that she invited Chester onto the team, I definitely feel like she doesn't have the authority to do that; especially without consulting the other members.
The brunt of the episode revolved around Barry and Ralph going on a PI investigation together. It was pertaining to the Dearbon case as always, with it seemingly becoming more and more mysterious as we go on. Barry was planning a surprise press conference to introduce Elongated Man as an official protector of the city, and when he heard that Ralph was traveling to do the investigation he insisted he go too to speed things up and ensure that they would be back in time. It was absolutely awesome to see Ralph in his environment, and how out of the environment Barry was. Like I mentioned, the show leaned super heavy into the old Bond themes, right up to the accented villain who tied them down, pointed a laser at them, and threatened the destruction of a city! It was Barry's insistence of using his powers against Ralph's advice that lead to the two of them being found and caught, which then lead to a really great heartfelt moment between the two of them where Ralph reminded Barry that Barry Allen is just as important as the Flash. This became proven as Ralph managed to send the laser haywire, blasting all over the place, and without using his powers Barry managed to predict the laser's blasts and free them after having it blast their binds. The auction for the weapon that could destroy cities was interrupted by Barry's awesome drunk impression, complete with him calling Ultraviolet an Mortal Kombat cosplayer and chanting, "Finish Him!" Ultraviolet was back by the way, broken out of jail by "friends in low places." Of course, the duo managed to stop the missile launch and apprehend Ultraviolet and Remington Meister (I can't find any comic book counterpart), while much of the black market crowd left during the scuffle.
Back in the city, Flash presents Elongated Man with an official emblem and presents him to Central City as their newest hero. What followed was definitely the best part of the episode and one of my favorite Flash scenes ever, as Elongated Man calls Barry Allen to the podium. Joe West delivers a speech about how Barry as a CSI has solved more cases and saved the city more times than anyone will ever know, then presents him with the Medal of Honor in a really awesome Barry moment that he definitely deserved after 6 seasons.
The final bit of the episode saw Ralph informing Iris about some of the shady dealings at the party he and Barry had crashed. The same markings from earlier this season appeared, leading the audience to believe that whatever organization is going on will become much larger in the later part of the season. In particular I would love to see January Galore appear again, the woman Ralph first met while at the party, who later could be seen watching the end fight with amusement. She had a real regal, powerful look to her like she knew everything going on and couldn't be touched. As Iris left Ralph alone on the balcony, he is then confronted by a scary looking Ramsay who throws them both off of the roof!
Good parts and pale parts, but the Flash is definitely running strong this season in my opinion, and next up we have a two parter before Crisis that will no doubt begin to wrap up the Bloodwork storyline. Hopefully we'll get to see him in his monstrous comic book form at some point!
