The Flash S06 EP08 spoiler review
Flash had its proper midseason finale in this last episode before Crisis begins next week, wrapping up most of the major storylines that had been running through this first bunch of episodes. The confrontation with Bloodwork came to a head in a really great episode with a nice transition into the Crisis story arc. Here is my thoughts on the Flash's 8th episode this season!

It began immediately following the events of last episode with Bloodwork launching his attack on the city with the help of Barry who is now referred to as Dark Flash, and looks appropriately scary. Ramsay is infecting people all over the city, turning them into mindless zombies that then attack those who haven't yet been affected, leading to panic as the power int he city shuts off amidst this zombie invasion. It was a very different atmosphere for the show, going full on horror, and it had the feel of a season finale despite only being the midseason finale. Ramsay has embraced his self titled destiny of "saving," everyone, and sets his sights upon STAR labs.
Across the city, Cecil and Kamilla find themselves struggling to escape their office building. I wasn't too caught up in this portion of the episode, and it ultimately lead to nothing, so I feel it is hardly worth mentioning. Nash Wells found himself in dialogue with the Monitor in the sewers (The scene from Batwoman taking place at the end of this episode), before being attacked by the zombies himself. Out on the field, Joe, Allegra, and Killer Frost also did battle with the zombies until Joe took a nasty slash that left him losing blood fast, leading them to head back to STAR labs which at this point is protected by a massive force field. This episode did a lot to push Allegra more as a character in the show, but what about Chester? They even talked about him, but he wasn't anywhere to be seen amidst the invasion. Sadly, Ralph was still absent as well.
Inside STAR labs, Iris and Cisco both tried their own methods of trying to stop Bloodwork. Iris confronted Dark Flash herself, believing Barry to still be alive inside of Ramsay's infection, though Ramsay proves himself still in control when he nearly kills her using Barry's body. Cisco tried a more offensive approach, attacking Bloodwork head on and would have succeeded had Dark Flash not intervened and forced Cisco to retreat to STAR labs again after Ramsay surprisingly refrains from killing him. The two of them realize that neither of their solo plans were working and that they had to work together, and further, that this was the moment Barry was preparing them for as he is no longer there, and they have to make the choices on their own. Thinking through their situation further, and their interactions with Ramsay and Dark Flash, they realize that Barry is still fighting to remain in control and has his own plan to defeat Bloodwork, so when Ramsay and Dark Flash arrive at STAR labs, Cisco lets them in.
Ramsay's plan boils down to sticking some of his blood into the particle accelerator, making it explode, and thereby infecting everyone in Central City with his infection. After setting it all up, he finds himself distracted by Barry's resistance which allows Iris the time she needs to find an energy gun and incapacitate Ramsay. Using Allegra's UV powers they nullify Bloodwork's plan (How cool would it have been if Chester found out he still had his black hole powers, but figured out how to control them and used that to stop Bloodwork's plan? I need more Chester on the show), and her tampering with the process releases a cure across the city that heals everyone, including Barry. They find that Ramsay has escaped, and Barry rushes outside to confront him one last time.
I had been hoping to see Ramsay's comic book form in the show at some point, and I think waiting until the last minute to use it really made for a great reveal and pay off, especially as it was teased last episode! Bloodwork's monster form was appropriately disgusting, like a huge mash up of throbbing veins and arteries, with bubbles of blood thrown in alongside a skull-ish face. It looked awesome on screen, and while the fight with Barry wasn't super long, it was still exciting to watch. Just as Bloodwork had been in Barry's head and made Barry see things, including his own self doubt, Barry, having been connected to Ramsay, brings out Ramsay's own self doubt which is the form of his dead mother. Distracted, Barry uses his speed and rushes Ramsay into the containment unit they used to contain Chester's black hole energy which is enough to keep him under containment despite the villain's promise that he would escape and come after them again. That was the end of the Bloodwork arc, and I thought it really scaled up towards the end and definitely proved that Ramsay was worthy of the big bad status. These last two episodes with him (though is still alive and now locked in ARGUS, so possibly he may return) have been the best so far this season, and I'm excited to see where the second half of the season goes after Crisis.
The end of the episode gave us the Nash Wells scene from Batwoman, with Nash thinking it had been the Monitor who saved him from the zombies rather than the actions of Team Flash, while back in STAR labs the team sat together with Barry as the minutes counted down towards December 10th. Cisco, Caitlin (Killer Frost finally let her out to be with Barry regarding Crisis), and Barry thought back to how simple things were at the start without any multiverse or time travel, and Barry ensured everyone that as long as they had this warmth and love inside them they've already beaten Crisis, even if he won't be around afterwards. Then as the clock struck midnight, red skies appeared above the city....
