Most wanted alternate versions of McFarlane DC Multiverse characters vol 10

It has been quite a while since I've taken a look at what we have in the Mcfarlane DC Multiverse line and voiced what alternate looks and designs I want to see, but I've finally returned to this series for a gargantuan 10th edition. We've gotten numerous figures since I last discussed my most wanted alternate looks for figures in the line, so I've got lots to discuss and have grouped many characters into themed pods to make things easier to discuss. I've absolutely loved the breadth of characters and designs that have been explored in the line, especially with the recent push of Platinum editions pushing out more and more versions of characters. With the DC Multiverse never ending and far expanding, there are so many different costumes and designs for characters that I want to continue seeing in the line, and with 2025 kicking off hot there's not been a better time to discuss what various versions of existing characters I want to see made.

Alan Scott, Red Tornado, Commander Steel, Power Girl: Earth-2

The Earth 2 New 52 universe is one I've been wanting more and more representation for and we've been steadily getting it, which makes me hope to see more characters from this exciting comic series in the toyline. Alan Scott debuted in the first wave of Collectors Edition and still stands as the only version of the character we've gotten in the line, with his popular Earth 2 depiction being the next likely choice to bring the name back into the line. Red Tornado is one whose alternate design is in fact a completely new character, that being the Lois Lane of Earth 2 which would make for our first Lois in the line, and one of the most capable depictions of her character. Commander Steel's first figure is a lot of fun, and the complex design of his Earth 2 look would be a cool entry to the World Army design. Finally, the New 52 Power Girl we got is a wonderful addition to the Earth 2 display, and I would be beyond excited to see a new figure of her produced that includes the S shield on her chest.

The Rival, Sportsmaster, Ragman: CW

The CW figures have been very, very unfortunately few and far between. With more and more live action figures joining the line each year I hope to see more of this iconic time for DC brought to plastic form, and recent characters we've gotten would be wonderful to have in their live action depictions. The Rival's CW suit departed greatly from his comic look which was achieved by a simple repaint, and as much as I like the comic look for the character I think his CW look is one of the coolest speedsters suits I've seen. The Platinum Sportsmaster is one of my favorite figures from last year, and I'd faint to get any figures from the Stargirl tv show let alone Sportsmaster who was one of the show's best characters! Ragman is one whose two biggest comic designs were checked off in one go between the Collector's Edition and the Platinum variant; however, I think a figure based on his CW design would blow away both with the amount of stellar sculpting detailing it would employ turning him into a true mummy of a Ragman.

Poison Ivy, Zsasz, Hugo Strange: Arkham videogames

The Arkham videogame side of things is another theme in the DC Multiverse that has fallen to the wayside with no new releases in quite a while, but all three of these figures would be a great way to bring back the subline. Poison Ivy is a frequently requested character in the line with her Batman and Robin figure obtaining a hefty mark up on the after market, so her Arkham videogame design is one that would be very welcomed by fans. Mr Zsasz's comic figure was a great depiction of his 90s design; but the Arkham Asylum look has always been my favorite for the serial killer with the prison sleeves and the promise of true sculpted scars if made. Thirdly, the Hugo Strange as Batman figure is a fun design I never thought would see figure release, and the next Hugo Strange would make sense to be a true Hugo design and the Arkham City design would fit that perfectly.

Batwing, Cassie Cain, Green Arrow, Brainiac, Cyborg Superman: Rebirth

Rebirth has been a heavy focus in the line since the start, and continues to see several releases each year with the most recent reveal of Tempest based on the Rebirth Titans comic. This era is great for action figure releases with good reason as so many of the designs are spectacular and many more call back to the classic look of characters! The Rebirth Batwing would be a perfect follow up to the New 52 figure and add to the Rebirth Detective Comics team, and Cassie's Orphan look would do the same and be the logical choice after her Batgirl figure from Target. Green Arrow's Rebirth comics was one of the best from the initiative and would be a great standard Oliver after his more stylized Longbow Hunters look, and with the stylized Page Punchers Brainiac being our only 7 inch scale version of the character so far I think we're long overdue for his great Rebirth look. Cyborg Superman's New 52 design and figure is one of the most impressive in the line so far with its sculpting and monstrous look, but a reasonable follow up will be his Rebirth design which is interchangeable with his classic look, and would be a wonderful addition to the Rebirth Superman Revenge Squad display.

Captain Cold, Psycho Pirate, Riddler, Daniel West, Anti-Monitor: New 52

The New 52 villains were some of the coolest redesigns of the DC reboot, and with classic versions of Captain Cold and Riddler produced in the line I would love their New 52 redesigns as they both headlined some of the coolest storylines in their respective universes. Daniel West's figure wasn't one I was especially fond of as I think the design requires a lot more sculpted detailing than painted detail which is what we got, so my hope is to one day get a new figure in his yellow design. The Anti-Monitor is another whose figure disappointed me a bit, namely in how small it was when compared to other mega-figures, so a New 52 release from the epic Darkseid War could put things right with a mega sized release.

Midnighter, Animal Man, Kon-El, Firestorm, Guy Gardner, Supergirl: New 52

Switching over to the heroes of the New 52, there were quite a few redesigns and a lot of designs that I think are worthy of being captured in Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse. Midnight does not have a lot of distinct looks in the comics aside from the stellar figure we already got but his New 52 form fitting battle armor would be a neat choice, as would the blue and white uniform for Animal Man which could double as an Injustice Animal Man, and be an easy repaint and not have to worry about missing the jacket which the first release felt like. Conner is one we've gotten a few stabs at so far in the line, but Kon-El's New 52 black and red suit just looks like a pretty cool design, as does Jason's New 52 Firestorm uniform which would pair very nicely with the Ronnie from the New 52 we already got. Then looking into the Lantern side of things, we've gotten a Supergirl in the line, we now have two different Guy Gardners, and going forward I would absolutely love for both of their Red Lantern designs to get figures in the future which I can certainly seen happening with how often we get Lanterns merchandise in the line.

Starfire: Animated Teen Titans                                    Captain Boomerang: DCEU

The only common thread I have for these characters is that they both come from DC Media sources but otherwise I didn't have great places to group them up with anyone else. The animated Teen Titans line seems dead with the release of Cyborg and no others since the start of the line which is unfortunate because that was a fantastic figure and I would love for Starfire to next get her appearance from the series checked off in the line as well. With BVS touched upon for a whole wave of figures I hope to see more DCEU figures brought into the fray as well even if that line of movies has concluded, and with both the regular comic Boomerang and White Lantern Boomerang in the line now I'd be very excited to get Jai Courtney's Captain Boomerang; preferably his The Suicide Squad appearance.

Red Hood: Batman and Robin                    Tim Drake: Savior                        Earth-2 Robin: 2nd suit

The Batman side of things will always be heavily present and all three of these designs would be absolute bangers and stand out designs to get. With the myriad of Jason Todds we have gotten in the line so far he is beginning to run out of costumes for Mcfarlane to do, but his Red Hood design from Batman and Robin would be such a unique and different figure for him with the stark white and blacks, not to mention the classically styled Red Hood helmet. My next want for Tim now that we have his Rebirth design is going to be another design from the Rebirth era, that being his look as Savior, the Tim Drake of Tomorrow. It was so cool seeing the future Titans from the 2003-era Teen Titans comic return, with Savior heading the plot. The Earth-2 Robin was a thrilling classic release in the line and I believe Mcfarlane has already come out and teased that they are intending to put out his second costume at some point down the line as well.

Sinestro, Waverider, Owlman, Doomsday, Garth, Shining Knight: Classic

With the heavy push of classic designs lately from the Silver Age it has me more and more hopeful that some of the earlier designs for characters will see releases as well. Sinestro's blue look is the definitive look of Sinestro for a lot of people, while I personally like the original iteration of Waverider more than the more modern iteration that was released already. I feel spoiled with two different versions of Owlman in the line already but still wouldn't mind seeing his classic design touched upon, especially with his wacky owl cowl. Three Doomsdays deep in the line (technically one is the All American Kid) and we still haven't gotten a truly classic Death of Superman Doomsday, in which his containment suit is such an iconic design not to be released one day. Finally, we've gotten modern renditions of both Garth and Shining Knight. Garth's Rebirth Titans look is my favorite for the character but I would also really like his Aqualad look, especially after the World's Finest: Teen Titans comic, and while the Platinum Shining Knight from Demon Knights was cool, the original Sir Justin is the one I'm really hoping to get one day.

Captain Atom: Armageddon                                Fire: Alternate                            Plastic Man: Terrifics

Approaching the end of the list, these three are three heroes we've gotten and who I'm hoping to see more of in the line. Captain Atom is one of my top favorite DC characters and his Armageddon look is certainly one of his most distinct, trading his silver in for a mix of red and gold that would be especially striking if given a metallic sheen. The Target Exclusive Fire leaves a lot to be desired, and I'm not the first in saying they hope to see a redo of the character, maybe one matching the above artwork to differentiate it. Thirdly, Plastic Man's release last year was one of my favorite releases of 2024, and with Mr. Terrific in the line now as well it would be perfect to see him released in his white and black Terrifics uniform to really get rolling on that fun team in the DC Multiverse.

Clock King: Suited                                    Hawkman: Sky Tyrant                                Metallo: Robot

The final group in this expansive rundown list is going to be a trio of villains. Clock King's Collectors Edition release is a hilariously fun love letter to the classic DC Comics, and now I'm ready for the more modern suited Clock King in the line with plenty of suited body molds out already that could be used. Especially after reading through the 2003 Teen Titans run, that has me wanting a suited Clock King even more. Hawkman hasn't seen any releases since his Collectors Edition, nor has the Secret Six from Dark Knights Metal seen any releases since the Jokerized Shazam, but the Sky Tyrant would be a metal figure to receive in the line with his brutal mask design. Finally, a lot of fans weren't entirety happy with the first Metallo to be received in the line. It was a fun throwback release to the Superfriends/Super Powers version of the character, but a more modern, full on robotic version of Metallo like pictured above is what would really make DC fans excited.
