Top 10 favorite Mcfarlane DC Multiverse figures of 2024

2024 was another banger year for Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line with waves that brought us older movie designs, classic DC comics designs being more and more prevalent, and a promise already for more great figures in 2025. I've tallied up my personal favorite figures from Mcfarlane's DC Multiverse line for the 2024 year based on sculpting, character and design choice, and what I had the most fun with. So let's take a look back at Mcfarlane's exciting fifth year with the DC license!

10. Armored BVS Batman

The Batman v Superman wave of figures was one of my most anticipated of the year with Mcfarlane giving us several of the characters and designs from the movie in one of the strongest movie waves yet. My personal favorite from that wave was the armored Batman! The silver paintwork of the figure really makes it pop, the scuffing and scratched detailing of the armor brings it even more into the realm of realism, and the cloth cape has a very unique texture and easy posability making it one of the best cloth capes in the line thus far!

9. Cyborg Superman

I remember the leaks of this figure happening so long before it was finally revealed and ultimately released, and boy am I glad to have seen it finally released as this figure absolutely kills it in the sculpting detail department. All of the robotics and cybernetics of this version of Cyborg Superman render it a wild action figure with the gargantuan clawed arm being a highlight of the design.

8. Tim Drake (Rebirth)

The Rebirth iteration of Tim Drake is one of my preferred looks for the character and after several Tims in the line I was more than happy to add him to the display. The new sculpting detail of the arms and torso really do a great job at mimicking the comic book design, the smirk captures the characters demeanor well, and just like the armored Batman this figure has one of the best cloth capes in the entirety of the line. The dual colors, the easy posability and true cloth texture adds a lot to the figure.

7. Superman (Earth-2 and Christopher Reeve)

2024 was a great year for Superman sculpts and started us off with the Crisis Superman, and finished out the year with the Christopher Reeve Superman. When the Crisis Superman came out I had a tough time putting the figure down, it was a great brand new sculpt for the Superman character with splendid proportions, articulation, and another true cloth cape. The Christopher Reeve Superman is also a take on the classic Superman design that hits a lot of the same points that the Crisis Superman does, and does a great job capturing Reeve's physique.

6. Plastic Man

I discussed the Plastic Man figure in my ranking of the 2024 Build-A figures, but to reiterate I think that this Plastic Man is one of the funnest figures in the wave. His sculpting detail of the toeless feet, the goggles, and cords of his costume elevate the accuracy and authenticity of the figure. The stretching effect pieces allow the character plenty of posing possibilities, rendering us a great plastic iteration of Plastic Man.

5. Simon/Solomon Baz

The Green Lantern releases of the year really knocked it out of the park and that includes Simon Baz, as well as his platinum Solomon Baz release. The assortment of lantern constructs are all unique with detailed sculpts, and the alternate faceplates are some of the most well done so far in the line! I also absolutely love the alternate faceplate concept as it mimics S.H.Figuarts and helps give the figures so much more character. The figure even includes Simon's tattoo on his right forearm!

4. Green Lantern Corps

Keeping in with Green Lanterns for this next slot we have the Green Lantern Corps release, one of the coolest concepts I've seen in the line thus far and one of the best figures of 2024 in my eyes. It reuses the fantastic Kyle Rayner sculpt, and includes an entire assortment of Lantern effect pieces ranging from basic but needed energy blasts, to a hand projecting an image of the Guardians which is my favorite! The biggest talking point of this release was its four headsculpts spread across the mainline and platinum releases that are great portraits of alien characters in the Corps.

3. Sportsmaster

When Mcfarlane released their first wave of true chase platinums that weren't variants of existing figures but purely chase figures placed into cases of wave releases, Sportsmaster was in that first wave and I knew that I needed to track him down. The JSA and its supporting characters and villains are amongst my favorite pieces of the DC world, so getting Sportsmaster in the line last year was an absolute delight, and to see him so well made resculpting the Dark Detective mold! He's easily posable which is great for such an agile character, and the assortment of sports themed weapons are so much fun to use.

2. Jonah Hex

These next two slots are the figures that I knew were going to take the top spot on the list, starting with Jonah Hex. This release is one of the strongest in the entire line and was also one of the most talked about last year as it brought back guns to the DC line! The sculpting work for Hex is wholly unique and astounding with a very well done cloth jacket, and one of the best headsculpts in the line. When combined with his wide range of accessories and the horse, Jonah Hex is one of the most stand out pieces of the DC collection that commands an impressive presence.

1. Mr. Bloom and Rookie Robot 2-pack

I am a huge fan of the New 52 Batman comics, especially some of the later storylines, and so when a two pack featuring the Rookie Robot and Mr. Bloom was unveiled I nearly wept. The Rookie Robot is superbly articulated for its larger design as well as hosting great sculpt work, and even a swappable head to make it seem as though Gordon is in the cockpit! Mr. Bloom is just as impressive, bringing to life the extremely creepy villain with its skinny frame, spindly fingers, and flowery mask. Not only are these two characters I was highly anticipating coming to the line, but they were both done extremely well and easily are one of the greatest two packs to debut in the entire line.
