Most wanted figure from each major toyline I collect vol 3
And just like that, 900 posts have been reached on this blog. I will never get tired of talking about toys and action figures, especially as more new lines and more new companies emerge every year, and the existing lines continue to put out more and more of the designs, characters, and concepts that I love. For the 900th post I'm bringing in a new rendition of my post where I take a look at all the main toylines I collect and what figures I want most from those lines, and with the whirlwind of lines in recent times this list has expanded to include so much more. Unforunately the Lightning Collection from Hasbro seems to be dead, though we did get Dino Thunder Tommy before it ended, and from Star Wars and Transformers we've gotten both Que and Saw Gerrera. From Star Wars to S.H.Figuarts to Sonic the Hedgehog these are my top action figure toylines and the figures I want most from each of them!
Transformers: Sideways (Armada)
The upcoming Red Alert from Armada looks incredible, and I'm hoping that what comes next will be an update of Sideways. The mysterious motorcycle was easily my favorite character from the series as a child, sporting a purple color scheme, as well as a proclivity to swap sides on a dime. The overarching story behind who he ultimately was was one of my favorite and most surprising parts of the Armada show, and with how faithfully so many of the Armada characters have been updated to this point it gives me high hopes that a Sideways update would come out spectacular.
Marvel Legends: Abomination (MCU)
It feels like the MCU side of the Marvel Legends line has really slowed down compared to the constant releases of multi-packs we got for a few years in a row. We still get MCU offerings occasionally, like the awesome Outrider 2-pack, and I'm hoping that an Abomination is in the cards to still one day receive a proper figure after his MCU debut years ago.
DC Multiverse: General Zod (DCEU)
Another villain that I've been waiting to receive a really good action figure is Michael Shannon's General Zod. I feel like The Flash movie would have been a perfect opportunity given the character's return but that film came and went without it being so. I'm hoping for a Man of Steel wave from Mcfarlane similar to how they've been releasing waves based on older films, or a release from Fondjoy who have been doing awesome work with the DC property.Star Wars The Black Series: Qimir
As decisive as The Acolyte was amongst fans, it seems that a common conensus was that The Stranger was one of the coolest villains of the franchise regardless of how you felt about the show overall. Qimir was an insane threat in the series with one of the most intense and devastating lightsaber battles to debut the character with, sporting a lightsaber that could detach into two separate blades, pure muscle, and a killer Cortosis helmet that allowed him to HEADBUTT a lightsaber! One of the sickest moments in recent Star Wars, and I hope the general public reception to Acolyte doesn't stop us from getting Qimir in the line.
S.H.Figuarts Naruto: Zabuza Momochi
The Naruto line from Tamashii Nations has been firing on all cylinders and lately I've been anticipating more and more a possible Zabuza figure. There's no denying that for appearing so early in the series he made a severe impact and was one of the coolest villains throughout the series as whole wielding his massive sword, the wrappings on his face, and the ultimate conclusion to his and Haku's story. A must have accessory would be an alternate faceplate holding a kunai in his mouth, as with as an unmasked face for his final moments.
My Hero Academia: Stain and Tenya
Whether it be from Kaiyodo or from S.H.Figuarts I've been waiting for one of the import companies to pump out a Stain and Tenya figure. Mcfarlane's offerings for the characters are both good, but I'd love to have these characters to the same caliber and quality of the recent figures we've gotten from both overseas toy companies. The articulation that could be applied to a Stain figure is dizzying to imagine, as well as the running poses that could be achieved with Tenya.
G.I. Joe Classified: Sci-Fi and Pythona
Season 2 and the original movie of the G.I. Joe series have both been getting a lot more representation in the G.I. Joe Classified line by Hasbro as of late, and that gives me hope that two of my favorite characters from those projects will be recreated soon in updated figure form. Sci-Fi was a very fun character wearing a technological neon colored suit that would stand out in the display, while Pythona is an outrageous inhuman design that will pair perfectly with Nemesis and Once a Man Cobra Commander.
Godzilla Ultimates!: Gigan
The reveal of the next wave of Godzilla Ultimates! by Super7 is finally imminent according to recent interviews. It has been a long time since we had a wave reveal, and I'm excited to see what's coming next. Throughout the year in general, and in the future shortly, I'm hoping to see a Gigan in the line. He has always been amongst my most favored monsters from the Godzilla series with his scythe hands and cyclops cyborg design appealing to me greatly. Super7 has indicated that before going to the Showa era in the Ultimates! line they would be hitting the Millennium era, and I personally love the Final Wars Gigan even more than the original design.
Micro Galaxy Squadron: Jabba's Sail Barge
Jazwares' Micro Galaxy Squadron line has been delivering more and more larger scale vessels as of late which gives me more and more hope that Jabba's Sail Barge could be an imminent possibility. The playset possibilities of the Sail Barge are endless with removable panels to detail the interior, the deck of the Barge, and the guarantee of getting our first Jabba mini-figure in the line! We've gotten multiple releases of the Skiffs that flank the Barge, so the stage is set already for Jabba's pleasure yacht to join the line.
Hammond Collection: Spinosaurus
I've talked to death my desire for a Hammond Collection Spinosaurus. 2025 will ideally be the year that we finally get this awesome species in the line, with so many other larger scale dinos already checked off, and rumors amok that the Spino will be appearing in the newest film. While the Jurassic Park 3 design for the Spinosaurus skews far from what we know the dinosaur to look like in actuality these days (the same can be said for many creatures from the Jurassic Park franchise), the design is still a very cool one that would make for an epic release many have been clambering for in the Hammond Collection line.
Sonic: Super Shadow (film)
The Sonic film franchise has been incredibly growing into the greatest videogame film franchise ever. With each release they've been getting better and better to the point that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was one of my personal favorite films of last year, and with it were some of the best Sonic action figures in Jakks Pacifics' 5 inch line! After seeing the film we are in dire need of a Super Shadow in the super articulated mainline to recreate one of the absolute sickest scenes and fights of the 2024 year. The light-up, limited articulation version from the Spoilers two-pack doesn't cut it for me when compared to the mainline offerings we've had.S.H.Figuarts One Piece: Mihawk
I'm current working my way through the Thriller Bark arc of One Piece, and while there have been lots of cool characters so far that definitely deserve figures like Franky, Arlong, and Eneru, I find myself more than ever wanting a Mihawk. He hasn't shown up very often for me so far in the series, with his initial appearance still his most substantial, but with that appearance he solidified himself as one of the coolest villains of the saga. His duel with Zoro is one of the most iconic scenes of early One Piece, and his design with his hefty sword are perfect for the S.H.Figuarts treatment, especially with the line giving more focus to the earlier arcs of One Piece lately.
